Amanda Batula has been facing criticism for struggling to move on from her husband Kyle Cooke's past mistakes. It's especially difficult for her when social media trolls constantly bring up the issue.
“There's always reminders,” Batula, 32, shared exclusively with We on Wednesday, April 10th. She expressed feeling pressured by outsiders, saying, “People think that I can't let go of the cheating thing, but I receive comments in my DMs at least once a week reminding me that Kyle cheated on me.”
The Summer House star, who married Cooke, 42, in September 2021, asked, “How can I let that go if no one else is able to let it go either?”
Amanda Batula Says She Gets Weekly DMs Reminding Her Kyle Cooke Cheated
During the season 3 premiere of Summer House in March 2019, Kyle Cooke admitted that he had cheated on Amanda Batula "a year ago" while he was blackout drunk on a guys' trip. Despite forgiving him for his infidelity, Batula still gets upset whenever Cooke stays out late or drinks excessively.
Batula disclosed that online hate messages go beyond the cheating scandal.
She shared with Us, "People are constantly rooting against us, placing bets on our relationship, and questioning if we deserve better." The negativity online has made her doubt her own relationship.
Batula has not only received reminders of her husband's infidelity but also faced comments about her appearance when sharing her struggles with fertility. Despite discussing her future plans to have children with Cooke, trolls continue to speculate about when this will happen.
She shared with Us that whenever she posts a picture wearing baggy clothes or with a slightly puffy face, there are immediate assumptions that she must be pregnant. Batula even jokingly mentioned that she may need to "trick" her husband into starting a family because Cooke is not as prepared as she is for parenthood.
What Is the Best Reality Franchise of All Time?
Batula said “it’s tough” to see so much negativity as she and Cooke are trying to navigate their relationship both in and out of the spotlight.
She mentioned that people often advise to ignore negative comments and block out the noise, but she would have to delete her entire Instagram account to avoid it. She also highlighted that there are also wonderful people reaching out to her that she wants to respond to, but the negativity can be overwhelming.
Batula became a full-time cast member of Summer House in season 2 after appearing in season 1. Despite her experience, she mentioned that she has considered leaving reality TV because of the negative aspects of social media.
I was really unsure if I wanted to continue with season 7. It was a tough time for me. But now, I understand the importance of ignoring negativity and enjoying the moment because it won't last forever.
I realized that this is a unique opportunity that I should cherish. I shouldn't let myself feel sad and unhappy throughout the experience. It's important to focus on the positives.
Summer House airs on Bravo Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
