Alyson Hannigan paid homage to her days on How I Met Your Mother during her latest Dancing With the Stars performance.
The Most Memorable Year Night of the season took place on Tuesday, October 24, allowing the contestants to reflect on the most impactful moments of their lives. At the age of 49, Hannigan decided to commemorate her 20-year anniversary with her husband, Alexis Denisof, alongside one of her cherished acting roles.
During her performance of the Viennese waltz with partner Sasha Farber, Hannigan gracefully held a yellow umbrella. This iconic symbol was frequently featured in the TV show How I Met Your Mother, representing Ted's quest for his soulmate.
“Tonight marks the celebration of the year that holds my dearest memories: 2003. It was during this transformative time that I united with my beloved husband, embarking on our blissful journey towards forever,” Hannigan wrote alongside an Instagram snapshot, which shows her gracefully positioned between Denisof, 57, and Farber, 39.
Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber gave a sneak peek to fans of "How I Met Your Mother" before the episode aired. Hannigan shared a rehearsal photo on Instagram, showcasing the iconic yellow umbrella with the caption "If you know, you know️."
Her followers quickly grasped the reference, with one fan commenting on the post, "The yellow umbrella! I know! Miss HIMYM days! That show helped me get through tough times." Despite receiving the lowest scores of the night along with Harry Jowsey and Rylee Arnold, Hannigan and Farber were not eliminated, as Mira Sorvino and Gleb Savchenko faced elimination instead.

Hannigan has consistently found herself in the bottom two this season, yet she refuses to let it dampen her spirits.
Acknowledging her limited dance abilities, she humbly stated, "I am aware that I will never reach the pinnacle of dance excellence." Nevertheless, as she shared with TheWrap before Tuesday night's episode, she exudes immense gratitude for simply remaining in the competition.
She went on to say, "Instead of prioritizing my energy and focus on that aspect, I make sure to heed the judges' advice and incorporate it into my next performance. I put in maximum effort, although it doesn't come easily to me. My motivation isn't solely based on the scores I receive. I understand that achieving a perfect 10 is unlikely, and that's perfectly fine. I've come to terms with it."
Additionally, the actress clarified her reasoning behind selecting a particular song for her Most Memorable Year dance.
"This song I would write for my husband," she expressed to TheWrap when speaking about Denisof, her co-star from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and How I Met Your Mother. "Of course, we would alter the gender, but the significance lies in the ability to dance, symbolizing our profound love and cherished bond. It holds immense sentimental value for us."
