Alberto Rosende of Chicago Fire is sharing his reasons for leaving Firehouse 51 and the show.
In an Instagram Story posted on Saturday, December 2, the 30-year-old actor expressed, "When I decided to leave Chicago Fire, it was a difficult decision. The people I've encountered were genuinely special, the bonds I've formed will endure, and the story I had the opportunity to tell is one that I am proud of."
Rosende, known for his portrayal of firefighter Blake Gallo on the NBC drama, will be making his last appearance in the Season 12 premiere in January. "I can't wait to see what the future holds and I wish the cast and crew all the best for the remainder of the season!" Rosende shared in his Story.
Deadline was the first to break the news last month that Rosende would be departing the show. According to the outlet, his exit was "completely amicable."
Rosende first appeared on the show in episode 2 of Chicago Fire Season 8 and later crossed over onto one episode of Chicago P.D. and one episode of Chicago Med. Originally intended as a recurring character, Gallo was promoted to series regular in 2019.
Rosende is not the only actor leaving the show. Kara Killmer, who plays paramedic Sylvie Brett, will return for Season 12, but it will be her last year. The 35-year-old actress has been with the show since Season 3 and recently shared bittersweet memories of her time on the series on Instagram.
"This marks the very first pictures I captured or was included in after arriving in Chicago," wrote Killmer on Instagram. "The first time I ascended in the Squad 1 basket was my initial introduction to the CFD — known for having some of the finest firefighters in the country! The view from my first apartment was absolutely breathtaking and marked the beginning of a passionate love affair with the beautiful city of Chicago!"
It was confirmed by Us in October that Taylor Kinney will return to portray Lieutenant Kelly Severide at the beginning of Season 12. It has not yet been determined if Kinney, 42, will be a regular presence on the show, as reported by TVLine, who originally reported the news. (The actor took a temporary "leave of absence" from the show in January.)
