James Gunn and Peter Safran are leading the charge in creating a new DC cinematic universe that was announced in January. They are assembling a lineup of superheroes that includes Superman, Lois Lane, Guy Gardner, Mr. Terrific, Hawkgirl, and Lex Luthor. As part of this relaunch, a new Batman film titled "Batman: The Brave and The Bold" is in the works, set outside of Matt Reeves' Batman universe as an Elseworld project.
With Robert Pattinson and Ben Affleck not in the running for this Batman movie, fans are speculating about potential casting choices. One name that has generated a lot of buzz is Alan Ritchson, known for his role in "Reacher", who has expressed interest in taking on the role.
"I've heard all the rumors about me playing Batman, and I can't deny that I'd be thrilled to take on that role," he shared with Fortress of Solitude. He also discussed Kevin Smith's comparison between Batman and Reacher, agreeing that his character is "Batman without the cape" to some extent.
"That's actually a great analogy," Ritchson said. "But let's be real, Batman has a whole cave, while Reacher doesn't even have a house. All he's got is a toothbrush. Batman's got some pretty cool stuff, with his wealth, caves, penthouses, and spotlights. He's definitely cooler."
In the Smallville universe, Ritchson portrayed Arthur Curry/Aquaman, but was later replaced by Justin Hartley for the spin-off pilot Mercy Reef. Hartley would go on to play Oliver Queen for several seasons of the show.

As a huge fan of DC Comics and the Batman franchise, I am thrilled to hear about Alan Ritchson's enthusiasm for the role. Ritchson has proven his acting chops in various projects, including his portrayal of Reacher, and I believe he has the charisma and physicality to bring Batman to life. His comparison between Reacher and Batman as "Batman without the cape" is intriguing, and I can see how his portrayal of Reacher could translate well into the role of the Dark Knight.
Furthermore, Ritchson's passion for the character and his understanding of Batman's coolness factor make him a strong contender for the role. I am excited about the possibility of seeing him bring his unique interpretation to the character and can't wait to see how he would fit into the new DC cinematic universe being crafted by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
