Fans who are hoping to see Aerosmith one last time before they retire will have to wait a little longer. The band recently had to postpone shows on their Farewell Tour due to lead singer Steven Tyler's vocal cord damage. However, a heartbreaking announcement was made on Friday, September 29, revealing that Tyler's vocal injury is more severe than originally thought. His doctor has confirmed that he not only damaged his vocal cords but also fractured his larynx, which will require ongoing care. The band, consisting of Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford, and drummer Joey Kramer (who is not currently touring with them), stated this in a statement.

Tyler, who is 75 years old, is presently receiving top-quality medical treatment to ensure a speedy recovery. However, due to the nature of his fracture, it is essential to exercise patience, as the band stated before conveying the unfortunate news. Consequently, all previously scheduled PEACE OUT shows will have to be postponed until sometime in 2024. Updates regarding the new dates will be announced as soon as more information becomes available.

Upon receiving this news, Tyler expressed his deep disappointment at not being able to join Aerosmith, his fellow band members, and the incredible Black Crowes in rocking with their devoted fans. He assured them that they would return at the earliest possible opportunity.

All previously purchased tickets for the rescheduled dates will remain valid, and refunds will be offered to those unable to attend once the new dates are announced. Fans who have questions about refunds should contact their original point of purchase.

The tour faced its first delay in mid-September when Tyler, in a statement shared on the band's Instagram, announced that strict doctor's orders prevented him from singing for the next thirty days. Tyler disclosed that he had sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday's show, resulting in bleeding. As a result, a few dates will have to be postponed in order to ensure that the band can return and deliver the performance that fans deserve.

At that time, the band's performances in Detroit, Chicago, Washington D.C., Toronto, Raleigh, and Cleveland were the only ones affected. The tour had commenced at Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center earlier that month, and the plan was to extend the final leg of the tour across North America until February 2024.

In addition to the physical challenges, Tyler has confronted accusations of sexually assaulting a minor in the 1970s. Julia Misley lodged a lawsuit against the vocalist in December 2022, claiming that the singer of "Sweet Emotions" had committed sexual assault, sexual battery, and deliberately caused emotional harm.

Tyler's legal team contended in April that Misley had willingly agreed to the relationship and that Tyler was protected by qualified immunity, as he had served as Misley's legal guardian once. The team filed a motion requesting the dismissal of the lawsuit, asserting that Misley had not experienced any harm or injury as a result of Tyler's actions.
