Aaron Rodgers is beginning his comeback journey with the New York Jets.
The Jets' official account announced that Coach Robert Saleh stated QB Aaron Rodgers' 21-day practice window would begin today, as of November 29. Saleh, 44, then held a press conference to elaborate on Rodgers' plans as he continues to recover from his Achilles injury at the age of 39.
Saleh told reporters that for Aaron, practicing would be similar to being on the field, doing certain drills with teammates instead of staff members. There would be no added risk and Rodgers was cleared to participate in certain activities that he would not do to put himself in harm's way.
Rodgers had surgery in September after tearing his Achilles during his debut game with the Jets. His injury was predicted to keep him out for the rest of the season, but he has since hinted at a faster recovery. "I don’t wanna get caught into a timeline, I just want to get healthy," he said on The Pat McAfee Show. "But I’m gonna do everything that I can rehab-wise to put myself in a position to be ready to play football again at some point. That’s the goal."
One month after his surgery, Rodgers surprised fans by walking without crutches and practicing with his teammates on the sidelines.
“He’s determined. I wouldn’t underestimate him,” Saleh said to NBC Sports. “I’ve heard he’s crushing his rehab and is really motivated to return this year.”
Speaking to NBC’s Melissa Stark in November, Rodgers revealed that he planned on returning to the football field by mid-December.

“He said, ‘I know it sounds insane, but you do a good surgery, you have a good patient, it makes this possible,’” Stark recalled at the time.
Rodgers is embarking on his debut season with the Jets following a trade from the Green Bay Packers. Throughout his 18-year tenure with the Packers, he achieved Super Bowl victory in 2011 and earned the distinction of being named the game’s MVP. He further solidified his legacy by earning multiple MVP titles in the seasons of 2011, 2014, 2020, and 2021.
