Tiger Woods and his son Charlie are harnessing their competitive spirit as they gear up to play together at the PNC Championship in Florida this weekend. This will mark their fourth appearance at the annual tournament in Orlando, where major-winning golfers team up with a family member.

Woods recently made a comeback to golf at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, his first competitive appearance in almost eight months following ankle surgery. He will be teeing off at the PNC Championship at 8:22am ET with his 14-year-old son, Charlie, and alongside two-time major winner Justin Thomas and his father, Mike.

"Woods told NBC on Friday that it has been an enjoyable experience for both of them. He mentioned feeding off their competitive nature and pushing each other to improve, creating a fun and competitive atmosphere. The pair practiced together at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club on Friday, showcasing their eerily similar golf swing and mannerisms at the tee once again."

Charlie has grown four inches in the past year, according to Woods, a stark physical comparison to the 11-year-old boy who first appeared at this event three years ago.

"I have to ease up on teasing him because he's getting stronger," Justin Thomas joked with reporters.

This year's PNC Championship is expected to be impacted by rain, adding to the challenges for players who must also navigate playing alongside a family member effectively.

An example of this was Charlie expressing his frustration with an exasperated "you gotta be kidding me" when his father chose to hit a driver off the deck during their practice on Friday.

"It's the responsibility of the parent to create the appropriate timing and environment for the learning process," Woods stated, referring to developing his relationship with Charlie on the golf course. "He doesn't always listen and I don't always give in either."

"It can be challenging at times, but it's all part of the learning and growing process. We are both evolving and developing at the same time."

Following a car crash in 2021, Woods has had to take time off from golf due to injuries and physical repercussions. As he prepares to make his comeback, he has expressed his goal of participating in one tournament per month next year.
