Fans are now getting a sneak peek at Zoë Kravitz's first movie as a director, Blink Twice. The film features her fiancé, Channing Tatum.
In the trailer released on Tuesday, April 23, Tatum, who is 43 years old, sets the scene by saying, "So, everybody's dead," as a building goes up in flames. He then suggests, "How about we start at the beginning?"
With a snap, the building reverts back to its original state during daylight hours. In a flashback, billionaire Slater King (Tatum) invites Frida (Naomi Ackie) and Jess (Alia Shawkat) to his private island.
The trip starts off in a lavish way with cocktails and gourmet plates of food being served to the guests between relaxing swims in the pool. Things take a turn when the guests are asked to hand over their phones and mysterious things begin to transpire on the island.
The movie, originally named Pussy Island, features a star-studded cast including Kyle MacLachlan, Haley Joel Osment, Adria Arjona, Geena Davis, Simon Rex, Christian Slater, and Liz Caribel. Producers for the film include Kravitz, Bruce Cohen, Garret Levitz, and Tiffany Persons. Jordan Harkins and Stacy Perskie are the executive producers.
Before the trailer was released, Tatum expressed his excitement for the project on Instagram. On Monday, April 22, he wrote, "Make memories...tomorrow. I have so much that I can't wait to share, because this project is near and dear to my heart in more ways than I can count."
In 2022, Tatum revealed to WSJ. Magazine that he had not previously known Kravitz before working together on the film. He mentioned that when they first met, the movie had a different shape but the core themes remained consistent. Tatum described the various changes the film went through as being quite rebellious and edgy.
Kravitz revealed that she had Tatum in mind while creating his character. She admired his feminist beliefs and was excited to work with someone who shared her interest in exploring this theme. This was shared in an interview with Deadline in June 2021.
Following their close collaboration, a source informed We exclusively that their relationship quickly turned romantic.
In August 2021, an insider mentioned that the couple shares many similarities. They are both highly active individuals who enjoy outdoor sports and spending time in nature. Despite working in Hollywood, they also appreciate being off the grid.
In October 2023, Us confirmed the engagement of the couple. Since then, Zoë's father, the famous musician Lenny Kravitz, has spoken highly of his future son-in-law.
Lenny, 59, shared with E! News in December 2023 that he loves Blink Twice. He described the lead actor as a great guy and emphasized their close relationship with excellent communication.
Mark your calendars for August 23 as Blink Twice is set to premiere in theaters.
