When he's not directing films like Army of the Dead or the upcoming Rebel Moon, Zack Snyder enjoys playing video games like the rest of us. Specifically, he has a strong affection for Fortnite.
In fact, Snyder, who is also recognized for directing 300 and Man of Steel, revealed to Wired that his wife tried to persuade him to take up pottery instead of playing the battle royale game. "Yeah, I was playing too much Fortnite. I'm actually pretty good at Fortnite," he admitted. "But it was also, you know, 3 in the morning, and my wife is like, 'Are you seriously playing Fortnite at 3 in the morning against some 12-year-olds?'"
Snyder chose not to reveal his in-game name, but did mention that his favorite skin in Fortnite is Mr. Meeseeks, a character from Adult Swim's Rick and Morty. He has voiced his desire for a Rick and Morty movie in the past, and jokingly suggested that if you've been defeated by Mr. Meeseeks, it might have been him playing. Additionally, Snyder has expressed interest in adapting the gaming franchises Halo and Gears of War into movies, with Halo already having a series in development on Showtime and a Gears of War film in the works at Netflix, with the involvement of developer The Coalition.
Snyder's next project is Rebel Moon - Chapter One: Child of Fire. The recent Netflix movie trailer showcased thrilling action scenes featuring laser swords, spaceships, and strange creatures. The movie is scheduled to premiere on December 22 on the streaming service.
In the meantime, Fortnite is preparing for a Big Bang event on December 2, which will lay the groundwork for Chapter 5.

As a Gen Z fan, I can relate to Zack Snyder's obsession with Fortnite. The game has a wide appeal across generations, and it's not uncommon for adults to enjoy playing it.
Snyder's preference for the Mr. Meeseeks skin is also understandable, as the character is a popular and recognizable figure from Rick and Morty. It's also interesting to hear that Snyder has expressed interest in adapting the Halo and Gears of War franchises into movies. These franchises have large and dedicated fan bases, and I believe that Snyder's unique vision could bring something new and exciting to them.
