Rebel Moon, an upcoming film series, will be an epic sci-fi space opera and has been described as a more mature version of Star Wars. Originally, the films were conceived as a potential addition to the Star Wars franchise and were pitched to Disney in 2012. However, Disney decided not to pursue the concept. Despite this, director Zack Snyder held onto the idea and now, through his production company The Stone Quarry Productions, has signed a first-look deal with Netflix. As part of this agreement, Netflix has exclusive rights to produce two Rebel Moon films and a video game, following the success of Snyder's recent film Army of the Dead on the platform.
