Zach Braff and Florence Pugh Remain Close: We Still Love Each Other, Says Actor
Zach Braff and Florence Pugh maintain a strong bond even after their split, with Braff confirming they still 'love each other' and consider themselves 'friends'

Despite their split, Zach Braff and Florence Pugh still have love for each other, with the Scrubs actor sharing only positive thoughts about his ex-girlfriend. Braff, 48, recently opened up about their current relationship while promoting their new film A Good Person, following their announcement of their breakup in August 2022 after being together for three years.
"We have a great love for each other. We truly care for each other and are good friends," Braff expressed during an interview on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show on December 14. "When I was on the Today show this morning, she even asked to see pictures of my outfit to give her approval. That's how much love we have for each other."
Braff, the writer and director of the movie, hinted at Pugh's exceptional performance in her leading role as Allison, saying, "She is truly extraordinary, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have her as my co-star."
Viewers will have the opportunity to witness Pugh's singing abilities in the movie, a talent that has not been showcased on the big screen before. Braff even tailored a specific character for her, stating, "I was writing to things that I knew that she could do and then that’s where I got the idea to make her a singer-songwriter."
Pugh's versatile talent could have led her down a very different career path.
Braff revealed that when Florence‘s career first began, she didn’t know if she was gonna go the actor route or go the singer-songwriter route because she can do both, and then her career started taking off as an actress, and that got put to a back burner. “I’m sure it will return, and she’ll release an album one day,” he said, “but I said, ‘Oh, it’d be cool if you could, you in character or you know, as the character, write the lyrics and write a song,’ and she wrote two that are in the movie and are very beautiful.”

Fans are in for a special treat with Pugh in the lead role alongside Morgan Freeman. Braff mentioned that there wasn't a dry eye in the house while filming her powerful performance.
“On set, you just look around, you know, we call it Video Village where we have all the monitors and everyone’s sort of hiding from the cameras and you would just look around and people would be tears streaming down their face and everyone’s jaw just opened,” said Braff. “I mean, it was just so raw. People have seen Florence do lots of different types of work from action movies to period pieces, but this was a different turn for her. This was like current day trauma and also being funny. I mean her ability to switch between the two with such ease.”
