Fallout 76's PvP may have lost some of its former glory by 2023, but it still remains a significant aspect of the game. Workshops have now taken over as the primary locations for PvP, where players compete for ownership of resource generators. However, since the majority of players do not partake in PvP, Fallout 76 should consider revamping the Workshop system to provide both cooperative and competitive opportunities.
Most Players Prefer to Avoid PvP in Fallout 76
PvP in Fallout 76 has undergone various changes, but the absence of the beloved Nuclear Winter battle royale mode has left the community yearning for a replacement. Despite peer-to-peer duels and the availability of Workshops, which offer valuable resources but also open up players to PvP, many now avoid these features due to the unpredictability of the experience. Even after the removal of Legacy weapons, the current state of PvP in Fallout 76 remains unappealing to most players.
Players nowadays don't capture Workshops for resource generation purposes, but rather to complete Scoreboard challenges associated with building and capturing Workshop zones. The PvP scene in Fallout 76 has undergone significant changes since its launch, and as such, it's high time that Workshops undergo an update or overhaul to keep up. A viable solution could be to expand on the popular CAMP building feature in the game.
Building CAMPs in Fallout 76 is the Real Endgame
Building your own CAMP in Fallout 76 is no easy feat, but it's a rewarding one. As you progress through the game, you'll have access to more and more crafting plans, allowing you to expand your creations and make your CAMP truly unique. However, much like the grind for legendary weapons, the plans for craftable CAMP objects can be hard to come by, adding an extra layer of challenge to the endgame. Despite the difficulty, the CAMP building features remain a crowd favorite among both new and veteran players in the Fallout 76 community.
Cooperative building in Fallout 76 is a hidden gem that many players may not be aware of. While Workshops are typically only buildable by the current owner, it is possible for players to collaborate on building in both Workshops and CAMPs. However, this feature is not widely known and requires players to be on a private team. If this feature were expanded to include public teams, it could revolutionize the building aspect of the game.
Making Fallout 76's Workshops more cooperative in nature would align with the direction the community has taken the game. While maintaining PvP-enabled zones, lifting restrictions on collaborative building within Workshops and allowing players to build together on public teams could be the solution to giving cooperative building features and Workshops the attention they deserve. Fallout 76 is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
