The journey to achieve this goal is arduous and challenging, but Loki and Agent Mobius (portrayed by Owen Wilson) stumble upon an unexpected solution in the form of Victor Timely (played by Jonathan Majors) - a seemingly innocent variant of He Who Remains, the creator of the TVA. Persuading Timely to assist them proves to be a daunting task for the dynamic duo, particularly with Sylvie (portrayed by Sophia Di Martino) attempting to eliminate him, Ravonna Renslayer (played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw) manipulating him, and Miss Minutes (voiced by Tara Strong) seemingly attempting to seduce him. However, once Loki and Mobius are convinced that Timely is not a deranged individual like He Who Remains or Kang the Conqueror, they place their trust in him to aid in repairing the Temporal Loom.

Consequently, O.B., Victor Timely, and Casey (portrayed by Eugene Cordero) begin working on a device that can restore the Temporal Loom. Amidst all these developments, Sylvie scolds Loki and Mobius for indulging in pie while the multiverse hangs in the balance, while Ravonna and Miss Minutes ruthlessly slay a room full of TVA prisoners. However, these occurrences merely delay the inevitable, as the Temporal Loom remains under significant threat of collapse, much to the distress of our valiant heroes.

Just as in the first episode of Season 2, repairing the Loom requires someone to venture into the irradiated environment. Loki initially volunteers for the task, but his offer is swiftly interrupted by Timely, who bravely steps forward to take on the challenge. The music swells triumphantly, leading the audience to anticipate a heroic moment. However, their hopes are shattered as Timely disintegrates before their eyes, letting out agonized screams. The control room occupants are left stunned as O.B. concludes that the radiation outside has become too intense. In a rare occurrence within the MCU, Loki is rendered utterly speechless, unable to prevent the Temporal Loom from collapsing. As the room becomes engulfed in a blinding white explosion, the shocking conclusion is revealed, transitioning to the credits.

Where Can 'Loki' Season 2 Go From Here?

So, what happens next after the destruction of the Temporal Loom in Loki Season 2? The burning question remains: have Loki and his companions suffered the same fate as Timely and been disintegrated? It would be a remarkably audacious move for Marvel Studios to abruptly kill off its beloved title character in the fourth episode, so that scenario is highly unlikely. However, if Loki and his allies have managed to evade death, then where exactly are they?

The destruction of the Temporal Loom could serve as an impromptu "pruning," transporting the TVA and its inhabitants to different points in time. Those who are pruned find themselves in the End of Time, a realm that still exists despite He Who Remains' demise. This place, depicted as a junkyard in Season 1, is home to various variant materials and Loki variants, including Classic Loki, Kid Loki, Boastful Loki, and others. It is also where Loki encounters peculiar items like the Thanos Copter and a frog version of Thor, as well as a formidable smoke monster named Alioth.

Alternatively, the destruction of the Temporal Loom may have reset the Sacred Timeline. With He Who Remains' death in Season 1, the multiverse is created, resulting in multiple timeline strands instead of just one. If this is the case, it is possible to see Loki reappear in a past MCU event as a villain on the path to redemption. Additionally, we may discover the true identities of other TVA agents on the Sacred Timeline, finally resolving the theories behind characters like Mobius and O.B., the latter of whom has been speculated to be a Kang variant.

Speaking of Kang variants, the Council of Kangs revealed their grand schemes for the Marvel Multiverse in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Rama Tutt, Immortus, and other Kang variants pose an enormous threat to the MCU, as hinted by He Who Remains. Their potential to initiate a multiversal war that could disrupt the very nature of time cannot be underestimated. Victor Timely's impulsive decision to take charge of fixing the Loom suggests that it may have been his intention all along, as part of his predetermined path to establish the TVA. As we know, the various iterations of Kang the Conqueror are notorious for their skillful manipulation tactics, and Timely has already demonstrated his proficiency in this area due to his background as a con man.
