The actress, who is 43 years old, posted on Instagram on Monday, May 6, to share her feelings as the final episode aired. She expressed how much the show meant to her and how it has touched many people. Vanessa wrote, “As an AAPI Woman, Wife, Mother, Colleague & Friend, I am more proud than ever to have been your Jane Tennant on TV.”

Lachey, the first female lead of the NCIS franchise, shared that her role on the show taught her to push boundaries and shatter glass ceilings. She encouraged everyone to do the same, reminding them that any dream is achievable regardless of circumstances.

The series, which debuted in 2021, was canceled in late April, with CBS announcing that the season 3 finale would be the last episode. She reassured her fans that she was processing the news while staying present with her family, expressing her love and gratitude to them.

She shared more about how she was feeling in a new Instagram post on May 1. The post included a video of her wiping away tears while looking out at the ocean. In the caption, Lachey mentioned that the spot where she was sitting was the same place where she filmed episode 1. She talked about sitting there at 2am in June 2021, gazing at the ocean and asking for protection for herself, her family, her crew, and their show. She also expressed her commitment to preserving the beauty and integrity of Hawai'i while showcasing it to the world.

Vanessa Lachey shared a post on her social media account.

She reflected on the connection between the air, water, and land, comparing it to how waves hit the shore with varying impacts before receding.

Vanessa emphasized the temporary nature of our existence, highlighting that we are on borrowed time. She stressed the importance of appreciating what we have been given, taking care of it, and leaving it in a better state for future generations.

Lachey loves living in Hawai’i with her husband Nick Lachey and their three children. She feels incredibly lucky to call the Aloha State home and has never felt more at ease. She expressed her happiness in November 2022, mentioning how she constantly tells Nick about her gratitude for being able to raise their family there. Lachey compared herself to an Air Force brat, feeling like she belongs in a place where she can travel and explore. She admitted that she has never truly felt at home until moving to Hawai’i.
