US troops in Syria hit in recent attack - the first since Thanksgiving

US forces in Syria were hit by a lone rocket attack on Wednesday, marking the first assault since Thanksgiving The incident occurred at Mission Support Site Euphrates, where US and coalition forces are stationed, according to a US official

A US official reported that on Wednesday, a single rocket attack targeted US and coalition forces at Mission Support Site Euphrates in Syria. Fortunately, the rocket did not hit the base and no injuries or infrastructure damage were reported.

Wednesday's attack is the first one since November 23, and it brings the total number of attacks on US and coalition forces to at least 74 since October 17. This surge in attacks followed the initial attack by Hamas on Israel. Meanwhile, the fighting in Gaza has been temporarily halted for six days, as negotiators work on potentially extending the truce between Israel and Hamas.

In the past month, the US has carried out airstrikes against targets associated with Iranian-backed militias in Syria and Iraq. The Pentagon claims that the US has effectively prevented any further escalation of the conflict beyond Israel and Gaza, despite ongoing attacks on US forces.
