Continued Attacks Targeting US Forces Following Recent Strikes in Syria

US and coalition forces have faced a surge of attacks following the US strike on a weapons storage facility in eastern Syria Multiple incidents have targeted US forces, highlighting the escalating security threats in the region

US and coalition forces faced additional attacks on multiple occasions following the US airstrike on a weapons storage facility in eastern Syria. According to a US official, there were four more instances of attacks. On Wednesday evening, two multi-rocket attacks targeted US and coalition forces at Omar Oil Fields near Mission Support Site Green Village, Syria. Additionally, there was a one-way drone attack on forces at Mission Support Site Euphrates, Syria. It is worth noting that one of the rocket attacks on Green Village resulted in minor injuries to three US troops.

On Thursday, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh confirmed that two out of the three individuals sustained traumatic brain injuries (TBI), whereas the third suffered a non-serious and non-critical injury. Thankfully, all three have now resumed their duties. Fortunately, there were no additional casualties or infrastructure damage caused by these three attacks.

In a separate incident on Thursday morning, a one-way drone attack targeted forces stationed at Al-Asad Airbase in Iraq. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties or infrastructure damage resulting from this attack.

Prior to the US strike on an IRGC weapons facility on Wednesday, there were two separate incidents involving multiple one-way drones targeting forces at Bashur, Iraq. Additionally, a rocket attack on forces at Shaddadi, Syria had been previously reported. Fortunately, there have been no reports of any casualties or damage to infrastructure resulting from these attacks.

In total, there have been at least 46 attacks on US and coalition forces since October 17. Singh confirmed on Thursday that these attacks have led to at least 56 US troops being injured.

The US launched a strike on Wednesday against a facility in Maysalun, Deir Ezzor, Syria. This facility, used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups, was targeted due to its believed housing of weapons utilized in numerous airstrikes against US forces in the region. This marks the second strike of its kind, with the first occurring on October 26 as a response to attacks on US forces.

"We have been closely monitoring the situation to ensure that when we hit the target, we do so at a strategic time, thereby disabling the facility for the IRGC and with minimal casualties," stated the official.

When asked on Thursday whether the act of striking a facility with the aim of minimizing casualties was a sufficient deterrent, considering that the groups attacking US forces are seeking to cause maximum casualties, Singh stressed that the majority of attacks on US troops have been "unsuccessful."

"We are minimizing what these groups are able to use, the capabilities that they are able to use, and we believe and we feel that these are proportionate responses," she said.
