Unveiling XDefiant's Troubling Hit Registration Issue - What You Need to Know!

Pre-launch players of Ubisoft's XDefiant encounter frustrating hit registration issues, hampering their gameplay experience in open sessions Discover the impact of this problem on the highly anticipated game

XDefiant, the free-to-play first-person shooter developed by Ubisoft, appears to be facing a hit registration problem as it approaches its full launch scheduled for later this summer. Despite undergoing alpha and closed beta testing phases, players participating in the open beta have reported issues with the game's gunfire ballistics.

Initially announced by Ubisoft in July 2021, XDefiant has undergone several changes since then, based on feedback received from insiders during testing. The open beta for XDefiant commenced on June 21 and has already received a hotfix to enhance party invites and general matchmaking. However, a growing number of players have observed that their shots are not registering hits on enemies as expected, leading to awkward gameplay moments.

Several XDefiant players, including Reddit users A_Russian_Tazer and MotionGamingYT, have shared their concerns about hit registration during the game's open session. In a video clip, one player aims their MP5A2 directly at a stationary enemy and fires multiple rounds to highlight the issue, resulting in a delayed death after about a dozen shots. MotionGamingYT's video showcases a player practicing their accuracy with an M9 pistol, where they successfully hit two target dummies but struggle to hit the third despite maintaining the same level of accuracy. These reports of hit registration problems in XDefiant's open beta suggest that Ubisoft may address and resolve this issue before the game's official release later this summer. Ubisoft has been actively listening to player feedback and has already made some fixes based on their observations during the open session. It is worth noting that hit registration issues have been a recurring problem in other popular FPS games such as Call of Duty: Warzone 2, Black Ops: Cold War, and Apex Legends developed by Respawn.

Due to Ubisoft's confirmation of server issues impacting the XDefiant open beta, it is plausible that the hit registration problem is a result of latency caused by low ping. XDefiant is currently being developed for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
