Ubisoft's Prince of Persia Remake Faces Disappointing Delays

Ubisoft's latest update on the highly anticipated Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake has left fans disappointed Despite three years in development, the remake has faced numerous setbacks and is still far from release

Ubisoft recently provided an update on the highly anticipated Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake, but unfortunately, it's not one that fans will be thrilled about. Despite being in development for the past three years, the remake has faced numerous setbacks, and there's still no release date in sight.

Originally announced in September 2020 during the Ubisoft Forward event, the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake was met with criticism due to its lackluster graphics. However, the developers assured fans that the final product would look much better. Despite the initial disappointment, fans were still excited about the remake due to its nostalgia factor. Unfortunately, the game has faced multiple delays and reports of it being stuck in development hell have surfaced. To make matters worse, Ubisoft Mumbai and Pune were replaced by Ubisoft Montreal, causing even further delays and uncertainty. Although Ubisoft has repeatedly stated that the game hasn't been canceled, fans are understandably frustrated with the lack of progress.

According to a recent post on the official Ubisoft website, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake's game director, Michael McIntyre, and producer, Jean-Francois Naud, have provided an update on the current state of the game. The update revealed that the game is still in the conception phase, and the team is currently building up their team, defining priorities, putting prototypes together, testing elements, and incorporating community feedback into the game's development.

In addition, the development team confirmed that Prince of Persia: Sands of Time will not be showcased this year. However, they emphasized their dedication to creating a superior remake rather than a simple remaster. The team plans to preserve many of the original mechanics while also refining them for an optimal gaming experience.

Over the past year, Ubisoft has shifted its focus to prioritize important projects, putting some on hold. Recent reports suggest that the company is investing heavily in its Assassin's Creed franchise, with plans to increase team sizes by 40% for various titles. Despite this, fans of Prince of Persia are grateful for Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality remake of Sands of Time.
