Unveiling the Untold Secrets: A Deep Dive into Critical Role's Candela Obscura Chapter 2 & The Untapped Perspective

Screen Rant: How did it feel to play on the other side of the table with the Calamity crew after traumatizing them during EXU: Calamity?

Brennan Lee Mulligan: It was an absolute pleasure! Luis, Marisha, and Travis are truly remarkable individuals - and having the opportunity to collaborate with Zehra for the first time was a true delight!

Can you give us any hints about your character? Additionally, what aspects of this world did you draw inspiration from when developing your character?

Brennan Lee Mulligan: I aimed to portray a character in this horror narrative that I've longed to witness, but rarely come across. My goal was to embody a protagonist with a unique perspective on horror, distinct from the conventional Eldritch Horror archetype.

What sets the horror genre apart, both in storytelling and RPGs, from other genres?

Brennan Lee Mulligan: Horror is the only genre where you won't be judged too severely for letting out a scream of terror.

You've had experience in many tabletop role-playing games. What specifically captivates you about the Illuminated Worlds, and is there a particular aspect you would like to integrate into other similar games, similar to how you enjoy the concept of halving in Kids On Bikes?

Brennan Lee Mulligan: The Gilded Die! I adore the use of unique dice that have the ability to replenish your points!

I appreciate how this game truly compels players to confront the repercussions of their choices in a manner that differs from D&D. How does this alter your approach as a player?

The negotiation of consequences is the enjoyable aspect of any system. It occurs not only between the mechanics and the players but also often involves discussions between the GM and PCs. If the Illuminated Worlds system were to be incorporated into a Dimension 20 season, what genre would you be interested in exploring?

Brennan Lee Mulligan: Horror or Mystery, for sure!

Which player surprised you the most in Candela Obscura Chapter 2?

Brennan Lee Mulligan: Everyone! The performance of this cast was exceptional, and they truly gave it their all!

Having played and served as a game master at numerous tables, what sets the Critical Role team apart from others in your opinion?
