Just weeks after David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan were announced as the actors playing Superman and Lois Lane in the upcoming film Superman: Legacy, a fan trailer has been released, providing a glimpse into their portrayal of these iconic DC characters. DC Studios is actively working on Chapter 1 of the DC Universe film, which is titled Superman: Legacy and is written and directed by Gunn. Production for the film is scheduled to commence in 2024, with pre-production currently taking place for the Superman reboot.
In late June, Corenswet and Brosnahan were officially cast as the new Clark and Lois for Superman: Legacy, bringing the film one step closer to becoming a reality. Now, only a month later, fan trailers have emerged, with Screen Culture envisioning Corenswet and Brosnahan as Superman and Lois.
What We Know About Superman: Legacy So Far
The content features a significant amount of footage related to Superman, primarily sourced from the recently concluded third season of Superman & Lois. Additionally, bits and pieces from previous projects of Corenswet and Brosnahan, such as The Politician, are also incorporated into the fan trailer titled Superman: Legacy. While
Superman: Legacy has already cast its main characters, the casting process is not yet complete for the reboot. Despite the fact that DC Studios has not officially confirmed or denied it, there are reports suggesting that Lex Luthor will make an appearance in the film, although his role as a main antagonist remains uncertain. Allegedly, Alexander and Bill Skarsgård are being considered for the role of Luthor, and there is even a possibility that Nicholas Hoult, who was among the top contenders for Superman, might also be considered.
Jimmy Olsen, a beloved member of the Daily Planet and a close friend to Lois and Clark, is set to make his long-awaited debut in the DC Universe with the upcoming film Superman: Legacy. Additionally, the highly anticipated movie The Authority will also introduce some of its members, who are rumored to be part of the casting process for Superman: Legacy. While the film is part of a larger reboot, it will not delve into Clark's origin story, instead focusing on his journey as a young hero.
As filmmaker Gunn will not be attending San Diego Comic-Con this summer, fans eagerly await further updates on Superman: Legacy. However, due to ongoing issues such as the WGA and potential SAG-AFTRA strike, it may be several months before additional casting announcements are made. Nevertheless, barring any official statement from DC Studios, filming for Superman: Legacy is scheduled to commence in early 2024.
