A Complete Reboot: Lords of the Fallen Revolutionizes the Fantasy Soulslike Genre
The Deluxe edition offers players a digital artbook and soundtrack, along with exclusive early access to the Dark Crusader class.
Priced at $250, the Collector's Edition of Lords of the Fallen includes a variety of digital content, a 19cm figurine, a hardcover artbook, a double-sided poster, art cards, and a steelbook case. Pre-ordering any version of the game also grants players HP, MP, and XP items, as well as three different armor colors.
Long before the Soulslike genre became popular, the game Lords of the Fallen was released in 2014. Though it was well-received by critics, it was often seen as a mediocre imitation of Dark Souls, lacking its own distinct identity. Now, almost a decade later, Lords of the Fallen is making a comeback.
Announced at Gamescom 2022, Lords of the Fallen is a complete reboot of the series, abandoning many of the original game's concepts to offer a more unique take on the fantasy Soulslike genre. Despite the crowded release schedule in October, with major titles like Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Alan Wake 2 all launching within a week of each other, Lords of the Fallen provides a fairly distinct experience, releasing on October 13, ahead of those other titles. For fans willing to fully immerse themselves, the game's impressive Collector's Edition is worth considering.
Everything Fans Get For Pre-Ordering Lords of the Fallen's Collector's Edition
Fans currently have the option to pre-order three versions of Lords of the Fallen. The first is the standard edition, which includes only the base game. The second version is the deluxe edition, which for an additional $10, grants immediate access to the Dark Crusader character class, along with a unique armor set, starting longsword, pendant, and explosive items. The deluxe edition also includes a digital artbook, showcasing concept art and character designs, a digital soundtrack, and a 3D model viewer.
For fans who are truly dedicated to Lords of the Fallen, there is the collector's edition, priced at $250. This edition includes all the digital content from the deluxe edition, as well as several physical items. The standout feature of the collector's edition is a 19cm figurine of the Dark Crusader starting class in an action pose. According to promotional art, this figurine is hand-painted, adding to its collectible value.
The Collector's Edition of Lords of the Fallen includes additional physical items. Instead of the digital artbook, it features a hardcover version with 100 pages. In addition, the edition includes a double-sided poster, a set of art cards, and an exclusive steelbook with a dark background and red symbol. The packaging itself is a collector's item as it transforms into a metal display case for the Dark Crusader figurine, complete with an LED light.
For those who pre-order Lords of the Fallen, there is a guaranteed reward. Regardless of the version or retailer, pre-ordering grants players exclusive armor tincts in bronze, silver, or gold. Furthermore, pre-ordering any version of the game includes five HP items, five MP items, and three XP items. GameStop pre-orders come with a replica Lamplighter Pendant, while Best Buy pre-orders receive an exclusive steelbook case.
Lords of the Fallen releases for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 13.
