The individual games within the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 can be purchased separately. This collection includes the highly acclaimed first three Metal Gear Solid titles: Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. These games are widely recognized as some of the best ever created and have received numerous awards. After months of rumors, leaks, and speculation, the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection was officially announced in May of this year.
During the recent PlayStation Showcase, Konami unveiled both Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 and a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. This is the first major release for the franchise since Metal Gear Survive in 2018. Unfortunately, Metal Gear Survive faced a negative reaction from fans and received mixed reviews from critics. The PS4 version of the game received an average score of 60 from review aggregator Metacritic, while users rated it poorly at 1.4. Fortunately, the announcement of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 has been met with a much more positive response.
The individual titles included in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will be offered for separate purchase, according to confirmation by Konami. These games will be priced at $19.99 each.
Fans may be curious if other games in the Metal Gear series will be remade or re-released in the future. The title "Master Collection Vol. 1" suggests there may be a second volume, but its contents are unknown at this time. It is hoped that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which is currently exclusive to the PS3, will either be included in the second volume or receive a remake. The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 will be available on PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S starting October 24.
