Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Luann de Lesseps, Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer, and Kristen Taekman are all set to make a comeback on the small screen in the upcoming season 5 of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, which has been aptly titled as RHONY Legacy. Following the decision to revamp The Real Housewives of New York City for season 14, Andy Cohen has announced a spin-off series featuring the original cast members.
During an interview with Variety in April 2022, Cohen acknowledged the challenges faced during the filming of last season's RHONY. With only five Housewives and limitations due to COVID, the show was shot differently than any other city, with New York City playing a significant role. However, Cohen also recognized the declining ratings and growing discontent among viewers on social media, which prompted the need to make things right for the beloved show. Although Bravo introduced a new group of women for season 14 during BravoCon in October 2022, contract negotiations delayed the RHONY: Legacy plans.
Luann expressed confidence in Bravo's ability to revitalize the Real Housewives of New York City franchise, citing their knack for innovation. Despite the recent setback of a cancelled show, Luann believes that Bravo will eventually find a way to bring back the original cast and create a spectacular experience for fans. However, Ultimate Girls Trip season 5 announced by Peacock later on did not feature Jill Zarin, who had spoken out about the network's unequal compensation. Zarin later stated that RHONY: Legacy was not meant to be.
Jill claimed that the decision had nothing to do with her and that it was solely in the hands of the producers. She admitted to having no knowledge of the matter. Meanwhile, Kelly, Luann, Dorinda, Sonja, Ramona, and Kristen will be filming on St. Barts, which will bring back memories for Luann, Sonja, and Ramona, who vacationed there during season 5 of RHONY in 2012. Notably, Luann's decision to bring Tomas, a Johnny Depp look-alike, home caused controversy and accusations of infidelity towards her then-boyfriend Jacques. (It's worth noting that Kelly had already left RHONY, while Kristen joined in season 6 and Dorinda in season 7.)

‘The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy’: Everything to Know
Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Luann de Lesseps, Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer, and Kristen Taekman are all slated to appear in RHONY Legacy, the fifth season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. Following the decision to revive The Real Housewives of New York City for its fourteenth season, Andy Cohen announced his intention to create a new show featuring the original cast members.
During the filming of last season's RHONY, the show faced numerous challenges, including limited shooting locations due to COVID and a smaller cast of only five Housewives. Additionally, New York City itself is a major character in the show, making it even more challenging to produce. Despite these obstacles, declining ratings and feedback from viewers on social media prompted the production team to take a step back and evaluate how to improve the show for its dedicated fans. While plans for a RHONY: Legacy were initially delayed due to contract negotiations, a new group of women has been cast for season 14, set to premiere in July 2023.
Luann expressed her confidence in Bravo's ability to innovate and revive RHONY in an interview with People in January 2023. Despite the setback of the new show falling through, Luann believes that Bravo will eventually find a way to bring back the beloved OG's and New York City Housewives. While it may not happen immediately, Luann has faith in Bravo's creative potential and is convinced that they will produce something spectacular that the fans will adore in the near future. Months later, Peacock announced the cast for Ultimate Girls Trip season 5, which includes several New York-based housewives. However, Jill Zarin was notably absent from the list, as she had expressed dissatisfaction with the network's unequal pay practices in a March 2023 interview with Access Hollywood. Zarin later revealed to Page Six that the proposed RHONY: Legacy project "just wasn't meant to happen."
Jill claimed in April 2023 that the decision to exclude her from filming in St Barts was solely made by the producers, and she had no involvement in it. On the other hand, Kelly, Luann, Dorinda, Sonja, Ramona, and Kristen are set to shoot in St Barts, which will be reminiscent for Luann, Sonja, and Ramona, who previously vacationed there during season 5 of RHONY in 2012. Notably, Kelly had already left RHONY, whereas Kristen first appeared in season 6, and Dorinda joined in season 7. During the controversial trip, Luann brought Tomas, a Johnny Depp look-alike, to her home and was accused of being unfaithful to her then-boyfriend Jacques.
