Sonja Morgan will not appear in the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of New York City, but she is prepared to provide advice to the new cast members. Speaking exclusively to We while promoting Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake, the 59-year-old reality star emphasized the importance of authenticity and showcasing genuine friendships. She advised the newcomers to "keep it real" as the audience can easily sense when someone is not being true to themselves, which ultimately does not resonate with viewers.
Sonja expressed her appreciation for the strong bond she shared with her RHONY costars off-camera. She emphasized the importance of trust in their friendships, believing it to be crucial in navigating their relationships. Sonja believed that the new cast members for the upcoming 14th season of RHONY - Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, and Brynn Whitfield - would thrive and get along well since they all shared a friendship with each other.

Sonja and several former members of the RHONY cast will make an appearance in season 5 of Ultimate Girls Trip. Alongside Sonja and her Crappie Lake co-star, Luann de Lesseps, the New York edition of UGT features Ramona Singer, Dorinda Medley, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, and Kristen Taekman. "It's like Scary Island Part 2," quipped Luann, 58, to Us, referring to the unforgettable trip to St. John during RHONY season 3, which gave us iconic phrases like "go to sleep" and "turtle time." This time, however, the group is heading to St. Bart's.
"The trip was absolutely amazing," reminisced Luann. "Whenever a group of women gathers, there's bound to be some excitement. What makes it even more thrilling is that barriers are broken down, allowing us to freely discuss our personal perspectives on past events. This is particularly exciting for our dedicated fans, as they yearn to discover our thoughts from years ago."
Brynn Whitfield, Erin Lichy, Sai De Silva, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, and Ubah Hassan were featured in UGT season 5, although its release date is not yet known. In the meantime, fans of RHONY can enjoy Crappie Lake, a new series that documents Luann and Sonja's efforts to rejuvenate Benton, Illinois, a small town with a population of only 7,000.
"We were initially perceived as high-class individuals by the townspeople, assuming that coming from New York meant we were too refined to get our hands dirty," Luann shared with Us. "But let me assure you, we completely changed their perception of us. Despite originating from small towns, we are quite capable of rolling up our sleeves and getting the job done."
Sonja, on the other hand, found immense joy in participating in gardening activities, which she already had a passion for. "One of the most memorable moments for me was collaborating on the playground project. I vividly remember seeing Luann ascend the bucket to tackle the tough tasks," she recounted to Us. "Meanwhile, I hopped onto a tractor and started clearing the brush. Just like Lu said, we are small town girls at heart. Driving tractors, lawnmowers, and even shoveling manure is second nature to us. Believe it or not, they actually requested our assistance in shoveling manure!"
Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake premieres on Bravo Sunday, July 9, at 9 p.m. ET.
