Content: For Cobra Kai season 6, the focus will be on the Sekai Taikai, a worldwide tournament. Here is a list of characters from the show who have a chance at winning. In season 5, Cobra Kai took a break from karate fights and instead showed the growing tension between Terry Silver's Cobra Kai and the combined Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang dojos led by Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. However, in the final episodes of the season, the show hinted at the Sekai Taikai, the ultimate karate tournament. This prestigious tournament allows dojos from around the world to compete. While Silver's plans to enroll Cobra Kai in the tournament may be affected by his incarceration, there is a possibility of Cobra Kai making a comeback, especially with John Kreese escaping prison. If this happens, Cobra Kai season 6 could see all the major characters participating in the Sekai Taikai, with many of them having the potential to win.
6 Robby Keene
Robby Keene is considered one of the top contenders to win the Sekai Taikai in Cobra Kai season 6. As the son of Johnny Lawrence, Robby has been mentored by the show's karate veterans, starting with his time at Miyagi-Do under Daniel LaRusso and later joining Cobra Kai under John Kreese's guidance. Throughout his journey, Robby has delved into both the light and dark aspects of the Karate Kid universe, gaining valuable knowledge from Terry Silver in season 4. Eventually, he returned to the good side, receiving joint training from Johnny, Daniel, and Chozen Toguchi.
Thanks to his extensive training, Robby has become a highly skilled fighter on the show. Although he finished as the runner-up in both All-Valley tournaments, he has proven his superiority over the winners, Miguel and Hawk, in various other fights throughout the series. Robby's internal conflicts have created a compelling character arc in Cobra Kai, showcasing his constant struggle between right and wrong, which has affected his performance in previous competitions. However, as of the end of season 5, Robby has gained clarity about his aspirations, allowing his training from both sides to merge with his newfound focus. This sets the stage for a possible victory in the Sekai Taikai against Cobra Kai, completing his character development.
5 Miguel Diaz
Miguel Diaz, alongside Robby, stands as one of the top contenders for the Sekai Taikai. His pivotal role in reviving Cobra Kai and his triumph in the first season's All-Valley tournament demonstrate his significance. Despite facing a tragic injury in season 2, Miguel's determination and resilience have allowed him to regain his confidence and skills, displaying true character and grit.
Thanks to his exceptional karate abilities and his admirable comeback from injury, Miguel is considered a strong contender to win the Sekai Taikai. In season 4 of Cobra Kai, Miguel's chances were hindered by personal distractions stemming from his search for his real father. However, with this aspect resolved in season 5 and his training under Johnny, Daniel, Kreese, and Chozen, it seems fitting for Miguel to achieve victory in the Sekai Taikai. This would serve as an elevated culmination of his character arc, mirroring his triumph in Cobra Kai season 1 and completing his journey in the series.
4 Samantha LaRusso
Throughout Cobra Kai, Robby and Miguel have consistently been portrayed as the top male fighters, along with Hawk. Similarly, Samantha "Sam" LaRusso has been depicted as one of the most skilled female fighters, alongside Tory Nichols. Sam has excelled by balancing her training in Miyagi-Do and Johnny's intense Eagle Fang teachings, benefiting from the guidance of her father Daniel and Johnny Lawrence. This was evident in the All-Valley tournament of Cobra Kai season 4, where Sam reached the finals against Tory.
Had it not been for Silver bribing the referee, it is likely that Sam would have emerged victorious against Tory, demonstrating her potential to win the Sekai Taikai. Sam's internal conflicts mainly stem from her relationships with Robby and Miguel, as well as post-traumatic stress and fear related to Tory. With Sam and Miguel back together, and her differences with Tory resolved by the end of Cobra Kai season 5, she can now focus on showcasing her karate abilities without any external disturbances. This development presents an opportunity for her to become the female champion of the Sekai Taikai and complete her character arc.
3 Tory Nichols
Miguel and Robby have portrayed the male leaders of Cobra Kai's karate hierarchy, while Tory and Sam have held the same status for the show's female combatants. Tory's troubled upbringing and family life greatly contributed to her success in Cobra Kai, as her anger fueled her karate skills. This allowed her to reach the finals of the All-Valley tournament in Cobra Kai season 4, ultimately defeating Sam LaRusso and becoming the female champion. Despite the referee's bias, Tory's previous victories over Sam in past seasons suggest that she could have won even in a fair fight.
Similar to other Cobra Kai students, Tory had a change of heart and switched sides, lending her support to Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang in their battle against Silver and Cobra Kai. As a result, Tory triumphed over Kim Da-eun, one of Cobra Kai's most skilled instructors outside of Terry Silver. With Cobra Kai season 5 setting the stage for Tory to learn from Daniel in season 6, it is possible that she may also emerge as the female champion of the Sekai Taikai, leading to a more friendly rematch with Sam.
2 Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz
Tory's victory in the Sekai Taikai would not only serve as a powerful culmination of her character development, but also as a testament to her resilience and growth. From once being an angry bully, Tory has evolved into a misunderstood teen who has faced numerous challenges in her tragic home life. Despite being led astray by Cobra Kai, she managed to overcome her past and triumph over her opponents in the tournament. This victory would not only signify the culmination of her karate journey but also her personal transformation. It would also underline her capability to emerge victorious in the All-Valley tournament without Silver's interference. In addition to Robby and Miguel, Eli/Hawk has emerged as one of Cobra Kai's top male fighters. Like Robby and Miguel, Hawk has mastered the techniques of both Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do, which allowed him to advance to the final of the All-Valley tournament in Cobra Kai season 4. While he received assistance from Miguel's absence in the semi-final, Hawk still managed to defeat Robby in the tournament's ultimate showdown using the techniques of Cobra Kai, showcasing his karate skills. Similarly, Robby and Miguel voluntarily selected Hawk to represent their dojo in the trials for the Sekai Taikai in Cobra Kai season 5.
1 Kenny Payne
While his fighting prowess speaks volumes, Hawk's victory in the Sekai Taikai would be the ultimate culmination of his character development. Throughout Cobra Kai, Hawk has undergone a remarkable transformation, starting as a timid, introverted nerd and evolving into a ruthless bully as a member of Cobra Kai, even going as far as seriously injuring his own best friend, Demetri. However, he managed to redeem himself by joining Miyagi-Do and triumphing over Cobra Kai in the All-Valley tournament. Now, as the representative of Miyagi-Do in the prestigious Sekai Taikai, Hawk has the chance to complete his journey of redemption by emerging victorious on the global stage for his newfound dojo after experiencing the depths of darkness within Cobra Kai.
Throughout the first three seasons of Cobra Kai, the main fighter at the titular dojo has undergone a series of changes. Initially, Miguel held the position, but then it passed on to Hawk, and eventually to Robby. However, all three of them ultimately abandoned the teachings of the fist.
In seasons 4 and 5, Cobra Kai introduced a new character who took center stage: Kenny Payne. Like Miguel, Hawk, and Demetri, Kenny joined Cobra Kai because he was being bullied at school, specifically by Anthony LaRusso. Under the guidance of Kreese and Silver, with Robby as his mentor, Kenny began his training. However, much like Hawk before him, he too fell into a dark path and became a bully himself.
This enhanced his karate abilities, as Kenny became like Silver's apprentice in Cobra Kai season 5. As a result, he went on to defeat formidable fighters such as Kyler Park and even a Cobra Kai sensei single-handedly in season 5. Eventually, Silver chose Kenny to represent the male division of the dojo in the Sekai Taikai trials. Kenny proved himself by defeating Hawk using one of Silver's techniques, solidifying his status as one of the top fighters on the show.
Similarly to other characters on this list, winning the Sekai Taikai would greatly impact Kenny's character development. After Silver was exposed as a cheater, Kenny, like Miguel, Robby, and Hawk before him, grew disillusioned with Cobra Kai and decided to leave the dojo in search of personal time. If Kenny were to make a comeback in Cobra Kai season 6 and emerge victorious in the Sekai Taikai tournament against Cobra Kai, it would not only complete his journey as a fighter but also provide redemption for his character.
