The Twisted Saga of Cobra Kai: A Never-Ending Nightmare

Experience the thrilling ride of Miguel Diaz's high school journey in Cobra Kai Time in the Karate Kid universe is never linear, making for a rollercoaster of emotions that will leave you on the edge of your seat

Cobra Kai's blend of teenage drama and karate has resonated with audiences, making it a popular hit. To provide some context, Jon Hurwitz, one of the series' co-creators, shared just how eventful Miguel and his fellow high schoolers' experiences have been throughout the past few seasons. Since moving from YouTube to Netflix, Cobra Kai has become one of the streaming giant's most significant contributions, with each new season dominating the charts upon release. With three seasons released in under two years, time appears to be flying by for Cobra Kai, yet the reality is even more astonishing within the Miyagiverse.

Hurwitz explained that Cobra Kai seasons three through six follow a similar timeline to the original Karate Kid saga, taking place within a year after the high school brawl that left Miguel temporarily paralyzed. This was in response to a tweet by Bryan Edward Hill, who shared the interesting fact that Daniel LaRusso's karate journey in the trilogy was developed between 1984 and 1985, a lot for a 17-year-old to handle. In other words, within a single year, Miguel overcame paralysis, went through various relationships, witnessed the rise and fall of John Kreese and Terry Silver, found his long-lost father, and experienced the LaRusso's home being destroyed. These are only the main events, as each character had their own significant story arc throughout these three seasons.

Hurwitz's statements have provided fans with a clearer understanding of the Cobra Kai timeline, particularly regarding the protagonists' high school stage. It appears that Miguel and Sam will be in their senior year at West Valley in season 6. While the show has been vague about the timeline, with only certain episodes hinting at the cast's academic progress, this revelation sheds light on the characters' progression. As the show's plot continues to push the boundaries, season 6 has a lot to live up to as the characters finish high school and begin preparing for college. Fans can expect to see the premiere of Cobra Kai season 6 between late 2023 and early 2024.

Cobra Kai seasons 1-5 are now available on Netflix.
