Sydney Sweeney, known for her role as Julia Carpenter AKA Spider-Woman in the upcoming film Madame Web, had an unexpected encounter with a spider while filming a scene for the movie Anyone But You in Australia. The incident occurred when she was holding a Huntsman spider as part of the scene, and to her surprise, the spider bit her. Despite being assured that the spider was trained, Sweeney expressed her disbelief, stating, "I don't know how you train a frickin' spider." During the ordeal, she started screaming while the cameras were rolling, but her distress was initially mistaken for acting by the crew. It was not until her co-star Glen Powell recognized the seriousness of the situation that the cameras were finally turned off.
Upon receiving treatment, the medical report indicated that she had been "bitten by a spider, now Spider-Woman." Little did anyone know, Sweeney had already been selected to play Spider-Woman in Madame Web.
"I honestly thought I was going to die," Sweeney shared about the incident.
In the movie scene, Sweeney's character touches Powell's character's butt and finds a lump, which turns out to be a spider. They both panic as the spider crawls onto Sweeney before she brushes it off.
In reality, Huntsman spiders may look big and scary, but they are unlikely to bite and would rather flee. Australia is home to many more dangerous animals and insects than the Huntsman spider.
Anyone But You releases in theaters on December 22. As for Madame Web, it arrives in February.

As a fan of Sydney Sweeney and her upcoming role as Spider-Woman, I was both intrigued and concerned when I read about her terrifying encounter with a giant spider while filming a scene for the movie Anyone But You. It's hard to imagine how frightening it must have been for her to be bitten by a real spider while she was supposed to be acting. The fact that she initially thought she was going to die adds another layer of intensity to the situation.
I can't help but wonder if this incident will affect Sweeney's portrayal of Spider-Woman in Madame Web. Will she bring a newfound sense of vulnerability to the role, knowing that she has faced a real-life encounter with a spider? Or will she channel her fear into a more determined and fearless performance? Either way, I'm excited to see how Sweeney brings her unique experiences to the character and how it shapes her performance in the upcoming film.
