Rebel Moon: Part Two, titled The Scargiver, will mark the conclusion of Zack Snyder’s sci-fi series on Netflix. Here's what we know so far about its release date, cast, plot, and more. The Snyder Cut saga put an end to the director's collaboration with theatrical studios as Netflix offered him the most substantial financial support in the industry. This shift began with Army of the Dead, a popular and intense zombie film that demonstrated Snyder's ability to attract a dedicated audience through streaming platforms.
Rebel Moon is unlike any other project. It has been a long-standing passion for Snyder, originally envisioned as a standalone, mature adventure set in a distant galaxy. It was rejected by Lucasfilm after the Disney acquisition, but Netflix not only provided funding, but also granted Snyder the opportunity to create a new sci-fi cinematic universe.
Part 1 has just been released, and fans are already anticipating Part 2, eager to see Kora and her allies confront the Imperium once and for all. Here's what we know so far, but be warned of potential spoilers.
Rebel Moon Part 2 release date
Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver will premiere on Netflix on April 19, 2024.
This sequel has a very tight turnaround, bringing to mind The Matrix's ambitious two-part conclusion that was released in the same year. However, unlike The Matrix, Part 2 of this sequel is being edited after filming, with Snyder currently in the middle of the editing process. He recently mentioned to GamesRadar, "I'm in the middle of editing right now. We're almost done. So I'm here - when you walk out, I have to look at some cuts from my editor, who just is in Los Angeles going like, 'What about this?' I'm like, 'Oh, jeez, okay.'"
Netflix titles generally aren’t prone to delays in the same way theatrical releases can be, so don’t worry – you can look forward to the sequel next year.

The Scargiver is ready to delve deeper into the backstories of the rebels. "No characters are left out. It delves deep into the background of every single person. You get their history and then you understand why they are where they are and who they are," Boutella also stated.
This means we can anticipate more from characters like Hounsou's Titus and Nair's Tarak. "You get to see how they confront their inner struggles, and how they interact with each other," the latter actor explained.
This should be viewed as a two-part story rather than separate installments titled Rebel Moon 1 and Rebel Moon 2. The narrative provides a deeper exploration of the characters' backgrounds, allowing for a stronger connection and understanding of their journeys. The story focuses on flawed and imperfect heroes striving for redemption in the midst of a brutal war. Despite appearing to meet his demise in Part 1, Fisher’s Darrian hints at his return in the sequel, promising intense action and further character development.
Rebel Moon Part 2 plot
We can expect Rebel Moon Part 2 to follow Atticus Noble as he tracks down Kora and the rebels on Veldt, as well as a long-awaited face-off between her and Fee’s Balisarius.
The concluding part of the first chapter sees Noble, revived by the enigmatic science of the Imperium after being thrown from a high platform, displaying signs of augmentation. Director Snyder explained that the first movie serves as a precursor to the second, with a thrilling cliffhanger leading into "The Scargiver."
He also informed Netflix that his desire is to deeply develop the characters in the first film so that the audience can truly grasp the reasons behind their fight for the villagers of Veldt. Regarding the name's significance, Kora's nickname "Scargiver" is known among Imperium members and is tied to her connection with Princess Issa, as hinted by Snyder to Empire.
Is there a Rebel Moon Part 2 trailer?
"The second film can be described as a war movie. It starts with the harvesting of crops and a focus on village life, capturing the 'Why We Fight' essence of the movie. There is also ample time dedicated to developing relationships. Then, the climax is the thrilling big battle. It's an incredibly enjoyable experience."
There is currently no trailer for Rebel Moon Part 2, although an earlier trailer includes some shots not seen in the first film if you pay close attention. Rebel Moon is currently available on Netflix. Read our review of the movie and other coverage here.
