In the latest Swordsmith Village Arc, Genya's character receives more screen time and plays a crucial role in combating Upper Moon Demons 4 & 5. Unlike his peers, Genya was unable to develop a breathing technique, necessitating the use of a different approach in his battle against demons. He devised a unique technique that involved dual wielding a double-barreled shotgun and a nichirn wakizashi (a smaller katana). Genya, an expert marksman, loaded his gun with special bullets made from scarlet crimson ore, the same material used in nichirin swords known to be highly effective against demons.

Genya's combination of a gun and sword showcases a distinct fighting style within the Demon Slayer series. While most Demon Slayers rely on unique swords of various shapes and styles, Genya deliberately sets himself apart by utilizing a gun, which excels in long-range combat. This choice also reflects the technological advancements in weaponry during Japan's Taishō Period. Should his gun strike fail to deliver enough force, Genya can swiftly switch to his wakizashi to swiftly dispatch his opponent.

Tactical and Hidden Abilities

Unable to grasp a breathing technique on his own, Genya sought the guidance of Gyomei Himejima, the stone Hashira. Under Himejima's mentorship, he was taught the power of repetitive action. This technique involved the repetition of words or phrases to clear the mind, enabling Genya to focus on his attacks and prevent any distractions. Interestingly, this method shared similarities with the breathing techniques employed by demon slayers.

In addition to his tactical prowess, Genya possesses a last-ditch ability that proves invaluable when all else fails: the power to consume demon flesh. By doing so, he temporarily acquires attributes similar to those of the consumed demon, thereby further enhancing his physical capabilities and gaining a significant competitive advantage. As a blood demon art, this ability also allows Genya to fuse his gun into his hand, transforming it into an even more formidable weapon. However, the consumption of demon flesh also bestows upon him a demonic visage, complete with fangs and black scleras.

Continuous usage of this substance, while not yet verified, could potentially have harmful effects on Genya's physical well-being as the prolonged intake of demon blood has the potential to be lethal in the long run. By employing both a firearm and a nicihirn blade that possess transformative qualities, Genya becomes a formidable demon slayer who holds a significant role in the battle against Muzan. Furthermore, he displays his uniqueness by engaging in a direct confrontation with the powerful Upper Moon 1 Demon, Kokushibo, and ultimately harboring aspirations of becoming a Hashira.
