Gyokko, one of the most formidable upper moon demons, makes his appearance in the Swordsmith Village arc of the Demon Slayer series. His sole purpose is to annihilate the swordsmith village, a crucial haven for the demon slayers. With his ghastly appearance, Gyokko has mouths for eyes, an eye on his forehead, and a genie-like body that sprouts multiple child-like arms, creating an even more grotesque image. Prior to becoming a demon, Gyokko was known as Managi, a person with a dark and malicious past. However, he was resurrected by Muzan and attained the status of upper moon 5 by obeying Muzan's commands.
Upper Rank 5
During the swordsmith village arc, Gyokko, an upper rank 5 demon, makes his first appearance after a village swordsmith discovers one of the vases in which he hides. Without warning, the unsuspecting victim is sucked into the vase and devoured, allowing Gyokko to emerge. As a sadistic demon, he takes great pride in his grotesque art, which usually involves dismembered bodies of his victims sewn together. Gyokko gleefully displays his work, showcasing swordsmiths with swords stuck in their stitched-up corpses to Muichiro. He revels in the pain his victims endure and takes great pleasure in explaining his art in detail, even twisting swords to cause excruciating pain to barely alive swordsmiths. Despite being short-tempered and easily enraged, Gyokko is willing to go to great lengths to please his master, Muzan, even if he is not entirely happy with the orders he is given. Gyokko has a narcissistic personality and is easily antagonized, especially if someone insults his art, which he always praises as beautiful.
Blood Demon Art Technique
Gyokko possesses a distinct ability known as the blood demon art, which grants him control over his own flesh. He can transform his hands into pots that can unleash powerful attacks or grotesque aquatic creatures. To achieve his rank as upper moon 5, Gyokko must have killed an impressive number of Hashiras. During battles, he can unleash his true form, a humanoid body covered in scales, resembling a merman. His scales can harden, making it difficult to decapitate him. He is also equipped with incredible regenerative abilities, speed, and reflexes, making it difficult for opponents to keep up with him. When in his true form, his powers are further boosted, allowing him to move at amazing speeds and turn anything he touches into grotesque fishes. His blood demon art also enables him to teleport from one vase to another while spawning numerous grotesque fish-like creatures to attack his enemies. These creatures, however, are only used as distractions and pose no real threat to Hashiras.
Gyokko's body manipulations are truly remarkable, allowing him to transform his limbs into deadly weapons. One of his most impressive attacks involves unleashing floating fish from his arm-pots, which shoot multiple poisonous needles from their mouths at opponents. Another devastating move is when Gyokko shoots water from the pots, creating a prison that captures and drowns his victims, leaving them struggling for breath and unable to escape.
It's clear that Gyokko's abilities are strongly influenced by aquatic powers, making him a formidable opponent to face in battle. Despite his deadly nature, Gyokko also has a creative side - he takes great pleasure in crafting and painting his vases, which are sold by Muzan at exorbitant prices.
Overall, Gyokko is widely regarded as one of the most powerful demons in the Demon Slayer series, and defeating him is no easy task. His mastery of body manipulation and aquatic abilities make him a force to be reckoned with.
