Underground Subdetection Unit Locations In Genshin Impact
Location of Non-Respawning Subdetection Units
Throughout the Liffey Region and Fontaine Research Institute of the Kinetic Energy Engineering Region, Genshin Impact players will encounter Subdetection Units. Developed by the Fontaine Research Institute, these robotic devices serve the purpose of monitoring environmental data. However, players will find them essential for Ascending their characters.

Locations and Farming Routes for Subdetection Units in Genshin Impact
The Subdetection Unit was introduced in Genshin Impact 4.1 and is not found in the initial area of Fontaine. Like other local specialties, the Subdetection Unit respawns every 48 hours. There are over 70 of them scattered throughout the game world, so players will need to embark on at least three farming trips to gather the 168 items required for a single character.
Use Elemental Sight to ease the process of locating the small robotic bug.
Liffey Region Route
For the Liffey Region Route, follow this direction:
Start at the Statue of the Seven and locate four Subdetection Units within the vicinity. There is no need to descend the stairs, as all of them are conveniently situated on the same level as the Statue of the Seven.
Utilize the Teleport Waypoint to the north of Mont Esus East and proceed in a northerly direction towards the tower where the quest "In Search of Lost Time" can be initiated. Two Subdetection Units can be found near the stairs in front of the towering structure, while the remaining two are situated behind the tower. Proceed to the outermost section of the building, and you will find them in close proximity to a red camera, a shovel, and a bag.
Return to the Teleport Waypoint and head southeast. Make your way to the small island where you will find a Subdetection Unit near Genshin Impact Lumitoile.
Afterwards, cross the water and collect two of the local specialties that are floating near a torch. Proceed to climb up the cliff to reach the small ruins where you can obtain two additional Subdetection Units. One can be found near a table and some books, and the other is located across from it, hovering near a stack of books.
New Fontaine Research Institute Route
Teleport to the western Waypoint located in the New Fontaine Research Institute area. From there, acquire three Subdetection Units to the west and two to the east. Afterward, return to the Waypoint and proceed south to locate one Subdetection Unit, with another one situated in the southeast. Following this, head north towards the towering structure and discover three more of the area's unique items. One of these can be found near the stairs leading to the building, another is in close proximity to the stairs by the door, and the third one is positioned at the side of the building, accessible by climbing the wooden ladder.
For the upcoming route, employ the Waypoint in a southerly direction and obtain two Subdetection Units near the bridge. One of them is concealed behind a breakable object adjacent to the wall, while the second one can be found at the end of the bridge. Afterward, proceed eastward to acquire a robot beetle situated at the bottom of the hill.
Up next, head to the New Fontaine Research Institute Waypoint in the north to get five Subdetection Units in the following spots:
Get one by the entrance of the building (top-right pin).
Climb the broken walls to the highest floor and find the northern Subdetection Unit by the ledge (top-left pin).
Go out of the building and get one Subdetection Unit (bottom-right pin).
Go to the lowest part of the structure and get two of the local specialties (bottom-left pin).
After that, walk east to get two Subdetection Units by a broken cart before heading north.
There are four spots to visit around the ruins:
Two Subdetection Units are floating under the structure.
The robot beetle is near the building, on the west side.
On top of a cart near Fontaine Shrine of Depths in Genshin Impact.
Floating near Ousia Block.
Utilize the Teleport Waypoint located towards the eastern direction and proceed northward towards the towering structure to acquire two Subdetection Units. Take note that access to this particular building will only be granted once the In Search of Lost Time quest in Genshin Impact has been successfully completed. Subsequently, return to the Teleport Waypoint in the east and head south to obtain one Subdetection Unit, which can be found atop a stack of boxes by the shore. Proceed across the shoreline to come across three robot bugs surrounding a damaged boat.
Mary-Ann Memorial Park Route
Teleport to the Waypoint located south of the Fontaine Research Institute in the Kinetic Energy Engineering Region. From there, glide north towards the broken waterway to collect two Subdetection Units. Continue gliding further north to find another beetle underneath the bridge-like ruin.
Next, use the Teleport Waypoint north of the Experimental Field Generator boss and proceed to visit the following locations:
Walk down the stairs twice and get one Subdetection Unit near a broken bookshelf and some books.
Go down once more and get another one under the broken path.
Climb back up and capture the bug near the stairs.
Head back to the Waypoint and walk west on the same level to get two Subdetection Units.
Head west to the next building and get two Subdetection Units on the top floor of the structure, then glide west to the broken bridge to get two more.
Underground Subdetection Unit Locations In Genshin Impact
After progressing through Unfinished Comedy, use the Teleport Waypoint north of the Abandoned Production Zone and head west along the road to find two Subdetection Units.

Enter the Kuisel's Clockwork Workshop, then progress through the Road to Singularity quest in Genshin Impact so that players can:
Get two Subdetection Units in Kuisel's Clockwork Workshop: Entrance.
Take two more in Kuisel's Clockwork Workshop: Middle Level.
Claim three Subdetection Units in Kuisel's Clockwork Workshop: Lower Level. The one in the middle and top requires players to go even further down.
Enter the Abandoned Laboratory where the Treacherous Light of the Depths quest in Genshin Impact is available, then:
Catch four Subdetection Units in the Abandoned Laboratory: Ruins.
Get three more in the Abandoned Laboratory: Lower Ruins.
Non-Respawning Subdetection Unit Location
To reach the Waypoint situated on the eastern side of the Fontaine Research Institute in the Kinetic Energy Engineering Region, teleport yourself. From there, head towards the northeast until you come across a Hilichurl camp. Upon entering the camp's building, make sure to demolish the wooden boxes in order to acquire five Subdetection Units. It should be noted that this particular location does not respawn and can only be claimed once.
