Unveiling the Mind-Blowing Twist in Zack Snyder's DCEU Reboot Flashpoint!

Zack Snyder's Flashpoint rebooted the DCEU with a jaw-dropping twist that left even die-hard fans stunned Discover how Snyder's visionary take on the iconic DC storyline took the franchise to new heights in this mind-blowing article

Highlights

Zack Snyder's Flashpoint reboot would have provided a satisfying conclusion to his Justice League saga and recontextualized the DCEU as Elseworlds within its own canon.

The Flashpoint movie aimed to be the ultimate culmination of the DCEU, featuring Zoom as the primary antagonist and orchestrating the events of the DC Universe. In order to closely align with the original source material, the DCEU adaptation of the Flashpoint storyline would have provided a comprehensive reboot of the universe, complete with a fresh new cast. Despite these intentions, Warner Bros.'s reluctance led to a deviation from this plan.

Zack Snyder's Flashpoint reboot, which followed his Justice League saga, was initially planned to serve as a satisfying conclusion on its own. Additionally, it aimed to establish the DCEU as an Elseworlds story within its own canon by introducing a shocking twist that offered a fresh perspective on the entire DCEU universe.

Jay Oliva, a director and storyboard artist known for his work on the DCEU and the CW Flash series, recently shared insights into the original vision for the DCEU. Prior to the development of The Flash, the character was initially connected to another film under the direction of Rick Famuyiwa. In this alternate path, The Flash would have played a much more significant role, thereby leading into a series of films that culminated in the Flashpoint reboot. Notably, Zoom would have served as the primary antagonist in this particular storyline.

Zoom, also known as Reverse Flash, is the main antagonist of the Flashpoint storyline, in which he manipulates Flash to alter the events of the DC Universe. According to an interview with Oliva in Inverse, he stated, "By the end of Zack's Darkseid quadrilogy, or whatever it may be called, we would arrive at a Justice League Unlimited version of the Snyder-verse." Unlike The Flash, which drew inspiration from Flashpoint, the DCEU's adaptation of this storyline would closely resemble the original source material. "And then you turn it around. You delve into the Flashpoint Paradox. Everyone who was once an ally becomes an enemy, creating a world you wouldn't want to inhabit. This allows for a universe reboot and the introduction of a new cast."

Unveiling the Mind-Blowing Twist in Zack Snyder's DCEU Reboot Flashpoint!

Since Batman v Superman, fans knew that the casting of Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan as Thomas and Martha Wayne indicated a connection to the Flashpoint storyline. In Flashpoint, the Flash alters the timeline, causing Bruce Wayne's death and his parents becoming Batman and the Joker. Another significant event is a conflict between the Amazons and Atlanteans, resulting from a failed romance between Aquaman and Wonder Woman. Oliva expresses excitement over the idea of Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot's characters fighting and having a love story. However, unlike Flashpoint, the DCEU would have added a twist to this narrative, challenging fans' expectations.

Oliva reveals that Professor Zoom was manipulating events as he came from the future to manipulate Barry. In the Flash movies, Zoom would serve as a hidden villain, exerting influence on the other Justice League members in other films. Zoom's actions would shape the trajectory of the DCEU, which would have been explored in the Flashpoint adaptation.

Zoom's manipulation of the DC timeline has shaped everything that fans know about the DCEU. This implies that the DCEU could be a collection of Elseworlds stories, intentionally paving the way for a potential canon DC Universe in its Flashpoint reboot. Interestingly, had Warner Bros. not hesitated and had fully committed to the direction set after the release of the Snyder cut, they could have potentially avoided the controversy that ensued with certain fans. Furthermore, this decision could have put the studio in an ideal position to execute an actual reboot, especially considering the profitability of the Snyderverse. MAX currently offers Flashpoint Paradox.
