Brie Larson returns as Captain Marvel in 'The Marvels' sequel, alongside Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris Discover the release date, cast, villain, poster, and trailer for this highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe film

They are soaring to new heights, venturing deeper into the unknown! Brie Larson returns as Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers in The Marvels, but this time, she is not alone in her airborne adventures. The formidable Air Force veteran will be accompanied by Monica Rambeau (played by Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (portrayed by Iman Vellani).

Larson expressed her strong desire to portray Captain Marvel, inspired by the character of Ms. Marvel and its significance. She shared with Entertainment Weekly in February that witnessing the portrayal of such a remarkable character by an incredibly talented individual, full of potential, was genuinely thrilling.

Kamala initially appeared in the TV series Ms. Marvel, where she discovered her powers and fully embraced her role as a superhero. In the gripping finale, Kamala's mystical bracelet began to shine, and abruptly she vanished. Taking her place was Carol, who found herself perplexed upon arriving in a New Jersey bedroom adorned with fan art devoted to her superhero alter ego.

While the first official meeting between Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel is anticipated to occur on the big screen in the forthcoming sequel directed by Nia DaCosta, Carol has a long-standing connection with Monica. In the 2019 film Captain Marvel, Monica was introduced as the young daughter of Maria Rambeau (played by Lashana Lynch). She later reappears as an adult in WandaVision, grappling with the loss of her mother and suddenly discovering her own superpowers.

Who Is in 'The Marvels' Cast?

Samuel L. Jackson is set to reprise his role as Nick Fury, joining Larson, Parris, and Vellani in the upcoming project. Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon have also been added to the cast in undisclosed roles. Saagar Shaikh and Zenobia Shroff will return as Kamala's parents, Aamir and Muneeba, while Mohan Kapur will once again portray Kamala's brother, Yusuf.

At the D23 Expo in September, DaCosta hinted that the heart of this film lies in the relationships.
