In Disney Dreamlight Valley, players are encouraged to assign Companion Roles to their villagers. These roles, including Mining, Gardening, Digging, Fishing, and Foraging, correspond to different tasks in the game. While most Companion Roles are easy to understand, the Foraging Role can be confusing. Players may wonder which actions fall under this role and if it is beneficial to have Foraging Companions.
Companion Roles serve as specializations for villagers in Disney Dreamlight Valley. When players spend time with a Villager, they will receive bonus items for performing actions related to their assigned Companion Role. Additionally, the villager will level up faster as players perform these actions. Once villagers reach Level 2 Friendship (excluding Ariel at the start and Ursula), players can assign Companion Roles to them.
What Does the Foraging Companion Role Cover?
Although there are numerous items listed under the Foraging tab in the Collection, not all of them count as Foraging in the eyes of villagers. When players hang out with a Foraging villager, using the "Harvest" command on wild crops and fruits will result in additional items. This includes spices such as Oregano and Basil, ingredients like Mushrooms, and any Berry Bush or Fruit Tree like Blueberries, Lemons, and even the new Dreamlight Fruit in Dreamlight Valley. Engaging in this action will also accelerate the leveling up of Foraging Villagers. The higher their level, the more bonus items they will provide to the player.
What Doesn't Count For the Foraging Companion Role?
It's important to mention what doesn't trigger the bonus items reward from a Foraging Companion. Specifically, any item obtained through the "Pick Up" command, such as Flowers or Wood, does not grant companions extra experience or the opportunity to acquire extra items. Similarly, utilizing the upgraded Royal Shovel to break tree stumps or the upgraded Royal Watering Can to clear Giant Mushrooms also does not yield any additional rewards. Foraging Companions solely prove beneficial when it comes to harvesting fruits and wild crops.
Foraging Companions, although of limited utility, it is advisable to have a few villagers dedicated to this role. Should players wish to convert an existing villager into a Foraging specialist, they can utilize the Foraging Training Manual, which can be crafted and used.
Disney Dreamlight Valley is currently available for early access on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
