Disney Dreamlight Valley Free-to-Play Plans Delayed Indefinitely

Disney Dreamlight Valley delays plans for free-to-play release indefinitely, defying previous predictions Uncertainty looms over whether the game will ever adopt the free-to-play model

Highlights

Disney Dreamlight Valley, despite leaving early access, will remain a paid game indefinitely, disappointing fans who were expecting it to become free-to-play.

After December 4, the Founder's Packs will no longer be obtainable, but players who already purchased them can continue enjoying the game. Despite receiving criticism for not fulfilling initial promises, Gameloft reassures fans that Disney Dreamlight Valley will still receive regular free content updates.

Disney Dreamlight Valley has announced that despite leaving early access soon, the game will remain a paid service and the plans to make it free-to-play have been delayed indefinitely. The game was initially released as an early-access game in September 2022, giving fans who purchased the Founder's Pack editions the opportunity to play it before others. While players in this state usually endure bugs and wait for additional content, they were able to experience the game right away. The initial plan was for Disney Dreamlight Valley to transition to a free-to-play model in 2023, as previously announced by Gameloft. However, it appears that players who were waiting for the game to become free will now have to either purchase it or wait indefinitely.

Disney Dreamlight Valley has provided an update on the game's early access status and future plans. The game will have its global launch on December 5, 2023. However, contrary to players' hopes, the game will not be free-to-play on this date. The developers have decided to keep Disney Dreamlight Valley as a paid game for the foreseeable future.

As early access comes to an end, Founder's Packs will no longer be available after December 4. Players will need to purchase the base game for $40, the Cozy Edition for $50, or opt for the Gold Edition for $70, which includes the upcoming $30 expansion pack.

Numerous players who bought early access last year immediately expressed their dissatisfaction, feeling that the company had made misleading promises and statements. Although Gameloft has faced previous instances of discontented fans, the company assures players that they will consistently provide free content updates for Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Disney Dreamlight Valley can now be accessed on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
