Okyann, a new Persona user in Persona 5: The Phantom X, has quickly become popular among fans despite limited information about her.
Okyann, a middle-aged woman, possesses a distinctive fashion sense that sets her apart. Fans are eagerly anticipating her arrival as she embodies a much-desired female adult Persona user, which has been a rarity since the Persona 2 games.
One of the newest characters introduced in the beta version of Persona 5: The Phantom X is gaining considerable popularity among fans. This character, known as Okyann, is one of the playable characters in the Persona 5 mobile spin-off. The beta release showcased several new characters in Persona 5: The Phantom X, each with unique designs and code names. Though these characters can be summoned through fusion, they can also be interacted with outside the virtual world.
The second beta of Persona 5: The Phantom X has recently commenced, unveiling even more new characters. This includes additional party members for Phantom X, like Soy and Leo, who are inspired by different themes such as cowboys and Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. Some characters have already become fan favorites based solely on their design, for example, Rin, a Chinese college student. Interestingly, Okyann has gained immense popularity among fans despite limited knowledge about her character.
Okyann, also known as Kayo Tohyama, is a 44-year-old woman who resides next door to the protagonist of Persona 5: The Phantom X, according to a translated biography from Pan-Hime on Twitter. While she used to be a fashionista, she is now a homemaker with a happy family, although she feels a certain emptiness within her. Much like the other characters introduced, she possesses a Persona II named Cleodora. Fans quickly took a liking to her due to the contrasting designs between her real-world and metaverse personas.
Her Phantom Thief outfit, which draws inspiration from Gyaru culture, has captivated many fans as well. Notable elements include her unique fashion sense, tan complexion, blonde hair, and even a flip phone. In the metaverse, Okyann's style remains unchanged, and she serves as the team's navigator, providing buffs and healing abilities to the player's party.
Fans have pointed out that Okyann is a much-needed addition to the series. The Persona games have been lacking in having female adult Persona users, with the last ones being Mayo Amano and Ulala Serizawa from the Persona 2 games. While the series has introduced more adult Persona users with heroic roles, such as Zenkichi Hasegawa from Strikers, they have mostly been men. Currently, Kayo Tohyama holds the title of the oldest Persona-user at 44, and many fans are eagerly anticipating her inclusion in the mainline games.
A new installment in the series, Persona 5: The Phantom X, is currently being developed for PC and Mobile devices.
