In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, episode 2, titled "Ad Astra Per Aspera," Commander Una Chin-Riley, also known as Number One, faced a court-martial for falsely claiming to be a genetically augmented Illyrian. With the help of her lawyer, Neera Ketoul, Una successfully defended herself and was reinstated as First Officer of the USS Enterprise.
A Twitter user named Jörg Hillebrand, who was involved in researching for Star Trek: Picard season 3, shared a screenshot of Number One's Starfleet personnel file, which revealed that one starship she served on was redacted. Hillebrand, an expert in the field, concluded that the redacted ship must be the USS Discovery. Take a look at the Tweet below:
Number One's In Discovery & Starfleet Record In Star Trek Explained
The starship USS Discovery in Star Trek: Discovery is believed to be the vessel that was redacted from Number One's Starfleet service record. In season 2, Captain Christopher Pike took command of the Discovery during the Red Angel investigation, which led to a conflict against Section 31's rogue threat-assessment A.I., Control. Lieutenant Commander Una Chin-Riley remained on the USS Enterprise while Pike was reassigned, but the true fate of the Discovery was redacted by Lt. Spock, suggesting it is the starship in Number One's file.
Before joining the USS Enterprise, Commander Una Chin-Riley served as an Ensign on the USS Martin Luther King, where she rescued a young La'an Noonien-Singh from the Gorn. Chin-Riley and Pike also served together on the USS Anteres under Captain Robert April before being assigned to the Enterprise. Chin-Riley had previous assignments on the USS Chatelet and the USS Aryabhatta. Many fans believe that Number One will eventually become the Captain of her own starship, which is why she leaves the Enterprise when Captain James T. Kirk takes command at the end of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
