Despite her long association with Twitch, it surprised many when she recently expressed a clear preference for Kick.
There is no denying the remarkable success Kick has achieved since its inception, as seen through the migration of several popular streamers to the platform. However, during its early days, doubts lingered regarding Kick's ability to compete with established streaming giants like YouTube and Twitch. In March 2023, Amouranth herself shared her hesitations about switching to Kick. However, by June, Kick made significant headlines by signing deals with two of Twitch's biggest streamers: xQc for a staggering $100 million and Amouranth, although the specifics of her agreement remain undisclosed.
Now that approximately two months have elapsed since her foray onto Kick.com, Amouranth recently shared her insights on both Twitch and Kick with NBC. She initiated the conversation by critiquing Twitch, alleging that despite holding the title of the platform's leading female streamer, she received no acknowledgment whatsoever. Conversely, she lauded Kick for its transparency and effective communication, underscoring its active solicitation of creator input and its ability to engage decision-makers who are readily accessible for discussions regarding the platform's future.
Amouranth has previously voiced her criticisms of Twitch since transitioning to Kick, stating that Twitch's business model is its "biggest sin." She believes that Twitch's success is reliant on a larger scale audience like YouTube, making it difficult for creators on the platform to achieve significant success due to the smaller live-streaming audience.
It is interesting to note that xQc, a renowned streamer, has also expressed a preference for Kick over Twitch.
