Highlights

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is getting PS4 and Xbox One versions, bringing the much-awaited sequel to previous-gen console owners.

The game's PC version initially encountered performance problems upon release, but subsequent patches have been implemented to enhance the gameplay. Respawn is actively working on optimizing the PC and current-gen console editions, while also developing versions for last-gen consoles in order to deliver an experience comparable to the highly-praised Fallen Order.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is set to be released on PS4 and Xbox One. The follow-up to the critically acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order initially debuted exclusively on current-generation consoles in early 2023, leaving previous-generation owners disappointed. Although the gameplay remains largely unchanged, game director Stig Asmussen revealed in a previous interview that Respawn focused on optimizing the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S to take full advantage of their superior processors and memory.

While Xbox Series X/S and PS5 owners celebrated the highly anticipated sequel, PC owners were less satisfied. The PC port of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was plagued with bugs and experienced poor performance with significant frame rate drops, making it nearly unplayable upon release. Over time, the development team has released multiple patches to address these issues; however, concerns remain regarding the game's optimization.

Respawn and Electronic Arts have surprised fans by announcing the development of last-gen versions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for PS4 and Xbox One. Respawn is currently in the early stages of bringing the game to these consoles, although no details have been provided about potential changes between the current-gen and last-gen versions. Despite this new development, Respawn remains focused on enhancing and optimizing the existing PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game, which is currently on patch 6.5. Once any issues with the current version are resolved, it may serve as the foundation for the PS4 and Xbox One releases.

Another challenge to address is the substantial file size of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Games exceeding 100 gigabytes on older consoles are quite uncommon. Although titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Final Fantasy 15, and Call of Duty surpass this threshold, it is an exception rather than the norm. While the expectation is that optimizing the game for older consoles will help reduce bugs and frame rate issues, fans may anticipate a similar experience. At this early stage of development, users of previous-generation consoles can only speculate about what to expect. However, there is a high probability that Jedi: Survivor will deliver a superb experience akin to Fallen Order, which was launched in 2019.

Currently, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
