Netflix's newest teen drama, My Life With the Walter Boys, has been a big hit, with Noah LaLonde playing one of the three characters in a complicated love triangle involving a girl and two brothers. Based on Ali Novak's book, the series follows Jackie Howard (played by Nikki Rodriguez), a Manhattanite who moves in with family friends after her parents' passing. As she adjusts to her new rural life, she finds herself drawn to two very different brothers, Cole (played by LaLonde) and Alex Walter (played by Ashby Gentry).
The series began filming in Alberta, Canada, in March 2022 and concluded six months later. Following the show’s release earlier this month, LaLonde shared his thoughts on social media.
“These individuals are truly remarkable,” he posted on his Instagram Stories in December, accompanied by a photo with the cast. “I couldn't have imagined a more perfect group to create this show with, even in my wildest dreams."
He may have connected with his fellow actors off camera, but on screen, it was a different story. When Jackie shows up at the Walters' farm, LaLonde's Cole is struggling with an injury that has sidelined him from football and changed the direction of his future. Letting go of a dream is something LaLonde could understand as a former hockey player.
"I was initially drawn to the role of Cole in My Life With the Walter Boys because it reflected experiences so similar to my own," he told Bello magazine in December. "When I stopped playing hockey, the months and even years that followed were a journey of redefining and discovering my identity. For a long time, I was 'Noah LaLonde the hockey player,' and my character was always known as 'Cole Walter the local star quarterback.'"
LaLonde observed that although he and Cole concluded their careers in different ways - he left the sport on his own terms - the "emotions" that accompanied the "redefining process" served as a starting point for him to relate to his character. "How do you move forward in shaping your identity and the life you will lead? We both had to confront the same question," he elaborated.

LaLonde told Bello that he focused on getting to know Cole in order to prepare for the role.

"But with Cole, episode 1 begins at a time when he has just had that life taken from him. He's in a weird place where people still view him like that, but he doesn't see himself that way.
