Red Dead Redemption 2's Saint Denis Vampire Explained
In the bustling city of Saint Denis, the infamous Red Dead Redemption 2 mystery unfolds. As players assume the role of Arthur Morgan upon arriving in Saint Denis, a bit of effort is required to experience the climactic encounter with the vampire. Scattered throughout the city are five writings, each inscribed on different walls.
A message awaits behind the Saint Denis General Store, stating, "Five bones under the perfect star Nosferatu will become mortal again." Players can discover a second message in the alleyway adjacent to the Fontana Theatre, which reads, "Oh sweetest of napes may your blood remain forever on my lips, six there will be before the lust is sated." Behind the Gunsmith, the third message unveils itself: "With one long kiss, I draw the life from her and await the outpost of the advancing day." Found just beside the Trapper is the penultimate message, declaring, "I feed again, the blood of life. The circle has begun." Lastly, south of the tavern lies the final message, stating, "I drink from the maiden and live again in the dead. The Heart of the ring of blood."
The following messages give a clear indication of what players can expect to encounter. The first message directly references Nosferatu, while the majority of messages mention the consumption of blood. These messages also reveal that there have been six victims, suggesting that each murder location is marked by one of the five messages, with one final crime yet to occur. Upon inspecting their journal after finding all five messages, players will notice that the locations form a pentagram. By heading to the center of this pentagram, players can discover the Saint Denis vampire for themselves.
To encounter the vampire, players must visit the designated alleyway located just south of the Saint Denis cathedral, around midnight. Here, they will come across a chilling sight: a figure hunched over a lifeless body. Dressed in a long black coat, black pants, and red gauntlets, this pale figure abruptly turns to face the player. Although it may be difficult to see in the dim alleyway lighting, observant players can make out the man's bat-like ears and razor-sharp teeth. If the player lingers for too long, the vampire will approach them, warning that they will be his next victim. Failing to react quickly enough will result in the vampire brandishing his dagger and delivering a fatal blow. Once the encounter concludes, players can uncover a newspaper article detailing a man named Bosco Lopez, who allegedly hung for his crimes after murdering five individuals, all of whom had distinctive bite marks, in Saint Denis years ago.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
