However, unlike the Infinite Combat Knife, which is unbreakable from the beginning, players will need to invest additional time, effort, and money to upgrade the Primal Knife in the Resident Evil 4 remake. The Primal Knife can only be obtained by unlocking it in the Extra Content Shop, at a cost of 1,000 credits, after destroying all of Ramon Salazar's miniatures. Only after completing this step can players truly begin their journey with the Primal Knife.

Much like the other weapons in the game, the Primal Knife can be enhanced by investing Pesetas at the Merchant. This process not only boosts the Power and Durability of the Primal Knife but also renders it impervious to destruction after the final upgrade. To fully upgrade the Primal Knife, a total of 310,000 Pesetas is required. Despite being less potent than Leon's other primary melee weapons, the Primal Knife's invincibility justifies the effort involved.
