Kristin Davis, known for her role as Charlotte York in Sex and the City, became a Hollywood star thanks to her portrayal. However, connecting with the character was not always a simple task for her.

Discussing on the "Best Friend Energy" podcast episode on July 10th, the 58-year-old actress shared, "We have completely different lifestyles. I have never been married, and it's not something I aspire to. Marriage has never been a priority or a goal for me."

Davis acknowledges that while she shares a fundamental similarity with Charlotte, it required some acting skills to effectively portray the character of a married woman and hopeless romantic on screen. Despite being a single mother who had adopted her daughter, Gemma, in 2011 and her son, Wilson, in 2018, Davis often experienced stress and a sense of apprehension on those particular days. Recalling her time as Charlotte on SATC from 1998 to 2004, as well as her reprisal of the role in And Just Like That in 2021, she remembered having to familiarize herself with the script's paragraphs detailing the rules and language of marriage. Overwhelmed, she questioned her ability to authentically bring the character to life and make it believable.

The actress acknowledged that her Southern upbringing played a vital role in her understanding of Charlotte's utmost longing to be a wife. However, she admitted that it required substantial effort at the outset.

In season 3 of the show, Charlotte tied the knot with Trey MacDougal (played by Kyle MacLachlan). However, their marriage didn't last and they eventually got divorced. Charlotte then found love again with her divorce lawyer, Harry Goldenblatt (portrayed by Evan Handler), and they got married in season 6. Together, Charlotte and Harry have two children.

"I've encountered individuals like that before. I was aware of its authenticity. Charlotte possessed a didactic nature, displaying an unwavering dedication," Davis conveyed to the audience. "I wanted to shed light on the underlying necessity that drove her. I truly admired the direction it took."

While acknowledging that Charlotte's initial spouse was not flawless, Davis expressed immense adoration for "wonderful Harry," the ideal partner for her character.

Davis confessed that she adored the initial wedding scene despite facing difficulties in portraying Charlotte's conventional love for fairy-tale endings.

"I'm not typically fond of weddings, but seeing how much Charlotte cherished it, I couldn't help but feel the same way," she admitted. "The memory of filming that wedding remains vivid in my mind. I must have tried on no less than 35 Vera Wang gowns."

Charlotte ultimately chose a gown embellished with tulle and lace, but it didn't match Davis' own personal style. "The voluminous one ended up winning, which was quite bizarre because it's not my cup of tea," she confessed. "If I were to get married, I definitely wouldn't choose that dress or wear that veil. However, I was committed to it."
