Unveiling Hisuian Lilligant in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Ultimate Guide to Capturing This Rare Pokémon!

Unlock the enchanting Hisuian Lilligant in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet by following these steps Discover how to obtain Petilil, evolve it into the stunning Hisuian Lilligant, and make the ultimate choice between Hisuian or Unovan Lilligant Is the extra effort truly worthwhile?

Petilil and its evolution, Lilligant, were initially introduced in Generation 5 as exclusive to Pokemon White and Pokemon White 2. However, in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, these Pokemon are no longer restricted to specific versions and can be encountered in the wild like other Pokemon.

In the upcoming game Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Lilligant has a regional variant called Hisuian Lilligant. This particular Pokemon belongs to the Grass/Fighting type and is revered as the Noble Pokemon in the region of Hisui. While trainers cannot capture the Noble Lilligant, they can obtain their own Hisuian Lilligant in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet by either trading or having a copy of Legends: Arceus.

How to Get Petilil

In Paldea, Petilil can be found in West Province (Area One), which is right around the area where trainers fight the Titan Bombirdier. Petilil has a limited number of spawn locations in Paldea, so players may have better luck searching for Petilil in Kitakami. The Kitakami Petilil can be found on Reveler's Road and near the lake in Wistful Fields. Their levels range from 18 to 21, with some reaching as high as level 34 before completing "The Way Home" main quest.

How to Evolve Petilil into Hisuian Lilligant

In the Hisui region, Petilil can evolve into Hisuian Lilligant when exposed to a Sun Stone. However, trainers will need to transfer their Petilil to Pokemon Legends: Arceus through Pokemon HOME to trigger this evolution. On the other hand, if Petilil is given a Sun Stone in Paldea or Kitakami, it will transform into the Unovian Lilligant.

Here's how to get Hisuian Lilligant:

Catch a Petilil in Scarlet/Violet, then place it in a PC Box. Save, then exit out of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet.

Open Pokemon HOME on the Switch, then choose Scarlet/Violet.

Move the Petilil from SV's PC Box to HOME's Basic Box. Save and exit.

Now, open up Pokemon Legends: Arceus in Pokemon HOME.

Move the Petilil from the Basic Box to one of Legends: Arceus' Pastures. Save and exit.

Close out of Pokemon HOME, and start up Legends: Arceus.

Go to Jubilife Village or any of the Base Camps and access the Pastures.

Add Petilil to the party, then use a *Sun Stone to evolve it into Hisuian Lilligant.

Return the newly-evolved Lilligant to the Pastures, then save and close Legends: Arceus.

Return to Pokemon HOME and select Legends: Arceus. Transfer Lilligant to the Basic Box, then save and exit the game.

Next, choose either Scarlet or Violet in Pokemon HOME to place Lilligant back into the PC Boxes. Save your progress and exit the game. Upon starting the game from the Switch menu, Lilligant will be found in the PC of either Scarlet or Violet.

* Held Items will be returned to the bag when placed in HOME, so trainers will need a Sun Stone from Hisui to evolve Petilil. Sun Stones can be obtained by mining Ore Deposits, which have a chance of dropping them.

Sometimes, the Ride Ursaluna will dig up a Sun Stone.

Completing "Quest 85: At Home under the Eaves" gives a Sun Stone as a reward.

Ginter, from the Ginko Guild shop, occasionally sells a Sun Stone for 5000 units.

Alternatively, players have the option to purchase a Sun Stone from the Merit Shop for 1000 Merit Points (MP), which can be earned by gathering satchels.

Hisuian Lilligant or Unovan Lilligant?

Both Lilligants have the same total base stat, however, their individual stats vary. While Lilligant is solely a Grass-type, the Hisuian Lilligant possesses a dual Grass/Fighting-type. Consequently, the Hisuian Lilligant exhibits a broader range of strengths and weaknesses compared to the Unovian Lilligant.

The base Attack stat for Hisuian Lilligant is 105, with a Special Attack stat of 50. In contrast, Unovian Lilligant has an Attack stat of 60 and a Special Attack stat of 110. As a result, Hisuian Lilligant is better suited for physical attacks, while Unovian Lilligant excels in special attacks. Additionally, their move sets differ, with Hisuian Lilligant acquiring moves like Leaf Blade, whereas Unovian Lilligant learns Petal Dance. Moreover, Hisuian Lilligant possesses a unique move called Victory Dance, which boosts all of its stats by one stage during battles.

Both Lilligants share the same base HP, Defense, and Special Defense. However, Hisuian Lilligant outpaces Unovian Lilligant in speed, making it the preferable choice for players seeking a speedy and physically attacking Lilligant. With her elevated Speed, a Jolly nature (+Spd, -Sp.Attk) is optimal for Hisuian Lilligant. Additionally, an Adamant nature (+Attk, -Sp.Attk) is also suitable.

Despite its role as a physical attacker, Hisuian Lilligant's movepool primarily consists of special attacks. Furthermore, it has limited access to Fighting-type moves, potentially requiring trainers to resort to TMs to include a balanced Fighting/Grass moveset. While it learns Axe Kick at level 5 (which can be relearned through the Remember option in Lilligant's Summary), trainers may opt to teach it Brick Break or Low Sweep instead. Axe Kick inflicts significant damage, but if it misses the target, Lilligant will suffer damage in return.

One drawback of Hisuian Lilligant is her weakness. She is highly susceptible to Flying-type moves, taking quadruple damage, while her Unovian counterpart only takes double damage. This is due to Hisuian Lilligant's Grass and Fighting-type combination. Additionally, she is also vulnerable to Psychic and Fairy-type moves. However, her Fighting-typing allows her to resist Dark and Rock-type moves, which Unovian Lilligant cannot do.

Furthermore, Hisuian and Unovian Lilligant possess different Abilities. Both have the same Hidden Ability, Leaf Guard, but Hisuian Lilligant can have either Chlorophyll or Hustle as one of its two Abilities. On the other hand, Unovian Lilligant can have either Chlorophyll or Own Tempo. Remember the following information:

Ability #1

Ability #2

Hidden Ability

Hisuian Lilligant

Chlorophyll: Boosts Lilligant's Speed during harsh sunlight.

Hustle: Increases Lilligant's attack power at the cost of her accuracy.

Leaf Guard: Protects Lilligant from status ailments during harsh sunlight.

Unovian Lilligant

Chlorophyll: Boosts Lilligant's Speed during harsh sunlight.

Own Tempo: Prevents Lilligant from getting Confused or from being Intimidated.

Leaf Guard: Protects Lilligant from status ailments during harsh sunlight.

While Unovian Lilligant can effectively utilize Own Tempo, the Abilities of Hisuian Lilligant are not as advantageous. Firstly, both Chlorophyll and Leaf Guard necessitate the establishment of intense sunlight through the usage of Sunny Day or the Drought Ability possessed by another Pokemon. Although Hustle may seem promising in theory, Hisuian Lilligant will encounter difficulties in successfully striking her opponent, thus making it questionable whether a Leaf Guard-Lilligant with Axe Kick or other moves that cause self-damage is worth the risk. Moreover, the fact that Hisuian Lilligant is primarily a physical attacker is unhelpful. Hustle diminishes the accuracy of physical moves, while leaving special, status, or one-hit knockout moves unaffected. Consequently, players would be wise to equip their Hisuian Lilligant with Chlorophyll if they prefer a more secure approach.
