However, my initial thoughts were focused on Californication and the remarkable portrayal of a loving father by the same actor. I wanted to ensure that whoever portrayed Bill Baterman evoked sympathy and relatability, rather than simply coming across as a one-dimensional antagonist. His performance in Californication showcased a remarkable level of seriousness and beauty in that role. After reading the script, being a father himself, he deeply connected with the themes and the profound grief experienced by Bill Baterman, which greatly resonated with him.
