Release date

As for the release date, there is no confirmed launch for Assassin's Creed Infinity, but reports suggest it won't be available until at least 2024.

What we know

Infinity is the current placeholder name for an upcoming Assassin's Creed hub that will offer a range of games set in various locales and historical periods. The collection will feature multiple games, each with its own unique gameplay mechanics and settings.

"Infinity is not a traditional game," explained executive producer Marc-Alexis Côté during Ubisoft Forward 2022. "It will serve as the central entry point for fans of the Assassin's Creed franchise in the future. Infinity will function as a hub that brings together all of our different experiences and players in meaningful ways."

Two games are currently in the works for the Infinity hub: Project Red, a game set in feudal Japan within the Assassin's Creed universe, and Project Hexe, which appears to have a witchy theme.

According to Côté, Project Red will be the company's "next premium flagship title," following 2023's Assassin's Creed Mirage. "It will allow players to explore one of the most highly anticipated settings in the franchise - feudal Japan, and they will experience a powerful shinobi fantasy," Côté explained. It's worth noting that the protagonist for Project Red may have been leaked in October 2023 - Ubisoft senior writer Pierre Boudreau (working on Project Red) briefly changed his LinkedIn banner image to that of a female shinobi and the symbol of the Assassin Brotherhood.

Ubisoft's Project Hexe, on the other hand, will be spearheaded by the same team behind Assassin's Creed Valhalla in Montreal, with Clint Hocking at the helm. Hocking, known for his work on Watch Dogs: Legion and Far Cry 2, is leading the project. While Ubisoft hasn't unveiled many specifics about the game, it appears to be in the conceptual stage at this point. However, Côté did mention that it will be "a very different type of Assassin's Creed."

In other news, Darby McDevitt, the narrative director for Assassin's Creed, rejoined Ubisoft in November 2021. McDevitt is a key figure in crafting the lore of the franchise, so it's likely that he will be involved in all the projects under Infinity. However, there has been no confirmation from Ubisoft or McDevitt regarding his role in the upcoming projects.

Platforms

Ubisoft has not yet disclosed the launch platforms for Infinity. Given its projected release in 2024 or beyond, it is likely to bypass the Xbox One, PS4, and Switch. We anticipate the hub to be launched for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.

PC system specs

We currently lack information on the PC system specs for the Infinity hub.

Trailers

Ubisoft has not yet unveiled any cinematic or gameplay trailers for Infinity. However, trailers have been released for Project Red and Project Hexe, both of which will be featured in Infinity.

After numerous fan requests, Assassin's Creed is venturing into feudal Japan in a game with the codename "Red." Project Red is being developed by the same team responsible for Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Preorder details

Preorders for Infinity are not currently available and may never be. As of now, we anticipate that it will be released simultaneously with Project Red, the first game slated to be included in the hub.

Editor's P/S

As a passionate fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise, I am thrilled about the announcement of Assassin's Creed Infinity. The concept of a comprehensive game hub that brings together multiple experiences and players in meaningful ways is incredibly exciting. The promise of exploring diverse locales and historical periods, including the highly anticipated feudal Japan setting, has me eagerly anticipating what Ubisoft has in store. The potential for unique gameplay mechanics and immersive narratives in each game within the Infinity hub is truly captivating.

However, I must admit that the lack of a confirmed release date leaves me feeling a bit impatient. The prospect of waiting until at least 2024 for Assassin's Creed Infinity is somewhat disappointing, but I understand that Ubisoft wants to deliver a polished and exceptional experience. The glimpses of Project Red and Project Hexe showcased in the trailers have only fueled my excitement, and I can't wait to see more details and gameplay footage in the future.
