Summary
A deleted scene from Loki season 1 reveals Chris Hemsworth's full cameo as Throg, a Frog Thor variant from the Marvel Comics.
Hemsworth's portrayal of Throg in Loki season 1 was very short-lived.
Although Throg's abilities could have been advantageous against the different versions of Kang, it is highly probable that if Hemsworth were to reprise his role, it would be for another amusing cameo.
A recently released deleted scene from Loki offers a glimpse at Chris Hemsworth's most unconventional appearance as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the first season of Loki, Tom Hiddleston's character encounters various versions of himself, including a hidden Easter Egg in the form of a Thor variant. Now, as the release of Loki season 2 approaches, a deleted scene from the show's first season has surfaced, revealing the full footage of Hemsworth's portrayal of the peculiar Thor variant known as Throg - a frog version of Thor from the Marvel Comics. Recently, @havanesemom13 shared this deleted scene from Loki season 1 on Twitter.
The bonus features in Loki season 1's physical media release include a deleted scene. This scene, featuring Throg, was originally intended to be part of a sequence in which Owen Wilson's Mobius M. Mobius shows various moments to Tom Hiddleston's main Loki variant at the TVA. In the deleted scene, Throg makes an appearance during King Loki's coronation, where Chris Hemsworth's character, transformed into a frog, is attacked by his brother. Perhaps we can expect Hemsworth to make a guest appearance in the cast of Loki season 2.
Could Hemsworth’s Throg Return In Loki Season 2?
Throg, played by Hemsworth, made a brief appearance in Loki season 1, struggling to break free from a jar buried beneath a pile of debris and dirt. Reintroducing this Thor variant for the second season of Loki would be an exhilarating choice that wouldn't require altering the show's narrative trajectory.
If Marvel decides to do so, Throg could potentially have a more significant role in Loki season 2. Considering that Hemsworth is the only actor in the MCU to have starred in four solo movies as Thor, his appearance would undoubtedly generate considerable excitement for the second season of Loki. Given that Thor and Hiddleston's new Loki variant have yet to meet in the MCU, showcasing Throg interacting with Loki in the series could help bridge the gap until their eventual encounter.
While Throg's powers would be valuable in dealing with any Kang variants in Loki season 2, it is more probable that Hemsworth's return as the peculiar Thor variant would be for another cameo appearance. This is perfectly acceptable, as the character lends itself nicely to comedic cameos. However, it would be even better if Loki season 2 included a more substantial Throg cameo, similar to the released deleted scene, rather than a fleeting moment like in season 1. This could provide an opportunity to explain how Throg managed to free himself.
