Pikmin 4 can be considered a short game, especially in terms of its main story. Most players can finish it within 15 hours if they solely focus on the main objectives. However, there are numerous other activities to engage in after rescuing Captain Olimar and watching the credits roll.
Moreover, the game offers a substantial amount of post-game content. While it lacks a New Game Plus mode or various difficulty settings, there are several new stages and unlockable game modes for players to explore once they have completed the main story.
Unlock the True Ending
Complete Olimar's Shipwreck Tale
Upon discovering Captain Olimar, players will immediately unlock two exciting stages. Initially, they'll gain access to the mesmerizing Giant's Hearth area and subsequently venture into the captivating Primordial Thicket. It is within the depths of the Thicket that players will embark on the vital mission of curing Oatchi, an essential step towards uncovering the game's true ending. Additionally, these bonus stages offer the opportunity to acquire the highly sought-after Black and Pink Onions, crucial for the cultivation of Rock and Winged Pikmin respectively.
Unlocking the "Olimar's Shipwreck Tale" side quest is one of the rewards for completing Pikmin 4. To trigger this quest, players will need to speak with Captain Olimar at the Rescue Command Post. The objective of this game mode is to gather all thirty ship parts within just fifteen days, using only Red, Blue, and Yellow Pikmin. Throughout the game's first four stages, players will come across the Dolphin parts. Specifically, there are seven parts in the Sun-Speckled Terrace and Hero's Hideaway areas, and eight parts each in the Blossoming Arcadia and Serene Shores stages.
Complete the Trial of the Sage Leaf
If players successfully complete Olimar's Shipwreck Tale, they will gain access to the Trial of the Sage Leaf. This challenging trial consists of ten distinct Dandori Challenges, each presenting its own unique themes and tasks. By conquering all ten trials, players will be rewarded with the highly sought-after White and Purple Onions. These onions are crucial for cultivating their very own White and Purple Pikmin. To embark on these exciting challenges, players can conveniently enter the cave from the Rescue Command Post.
Find Every Rescue, Onion, and Treasure
For those seeking post-Pikmin 4 adventures, revisiting previous areas can prove to be quite rewarding. By accomplishing specific tasks, players unlock valuable skills and items, such as the coveted Oatchi's Infinite Rush ability and the useful Plucking Whistle Lab equipment. With the inclusion of the four main stages and two exciting bonus areas, players will encounter a staggering array of 45 castaways, 22 Onions and Flarlics, and a grand total of over 200 treasures. These abundant offerings are certain to keep players engrossed for a considerable amount of time.
Complete All Side Quests
Players will probably complete many of the game's side quests while working towards achieving 100% completion on every stage and unlocking all of Pikmin 4's rewards. However, there are a few additional quests that can only be accessed from the Rescue Command Post after rescuing specific Castaways. At the Rescue Command Post, players can participate in Night Expeditions or replay previously finished Dandori Battles in order to obtain Platinum medals. Only once players have accomplished all of this can they claim to have truly completed Pikmin 4. Pikmin 4 is currently only available for the Nintendo Switch.
