Remnant 2 stands out in the Soulslike genre for two distinctive reasons. Firstly, it places a greater emphasis on shooting mechanics than other titles in the genre. Secondly, it offers a more forgiving experience in terms of overall difficulty. However, this leniency is abandoned when playing in Apocalypse mode, which presents the ultimate challenge for players' skills and character development.
In Apocalypse difficulty, every enemy becomes more formidable and resilient, necessitating players to optimize their equipment and adapt their tactics. The purpose of conquering this daunting mode extends beyond mere boasting rights, as it grants access to exclusive weapons that cannot be acquired elsewhere. Presented below are the currently known Apocalypse rewards.
Remnant 2: Apocalypse Rewards
Starkiller (Apocalypse)
Unlockable WeaponsIn order to obtain two classic Remnant: From The Ashes weapons, players must successfully complete a campaign run on the challenging Apocalypse difficulty. Once achieved, these weapons can then be purchased from Brabus' store located at Ward 13. Additionally, the remaining concealed weapons can be obtained by completing the game again on Veteran and Nightmare modes. To unlock all of these formidable weapons, players must conquer specific difficulties as outlined below.
Formerly called the Particle Accelerator, Starkiller is a semi-automatic Long Gun renowned for its impressive damage-per-shot and compact magazine capacity. Equipped with the Gravity Core mod, this extraordinary weapon creates a miniature black hole capable of drawing in foes and inflicting widespread devastation with its explosive aftermath.
World's Edge (Apocalypse)
Repulsor (Nightmare)
This powerful weapon, known as the Horizon Blade, is obtained as a coveted prize upon defeating the ultimate boss in the additional Subject 2923 DLC for the original game. The sword makes a notable comeback in Remnant 2, retaining its impressive array of moves identical to that of greatswords. Moreover, it retains its distinguishing mod, the Horizon Strike, which emanates rippling waves of energy with each fully charged attack. The Repulsor is a powerful beam shotgun in the game Remnant: From The Ashes. To acquire it, players must defeat the final boss. This weapon is equipped with the Banish mod, which transports targets to a different dimension, rendering them virtually harmless and invulnerable to damage. When the mod's effect expires, the Repulsor inflicts increased damage on these targets for a brief period of time.
Hero's Sword (Nightmare)
Players can create a fresh character equipped with this sword by selecting the Explorer class. Nevertheless, individuals intending to utilize the Hero's Sword with their primary character must first complete Remnant 2 on Nightmare difficulty. Similar to World's Edge, this weapon is capable of unleashing energy waves, but it follows a one-handed sword moveset and its waves do not pass through targets.
Spore Bloom (Veteran)
This powerful shotgun has a single-round loading capacity, compensating for its limitation with the most potent damage-per-shot among all guns in its category. Additionally, it is equipped with the Spore Shot mod, enabling the launching of gas grenades that not only impair the movement of enemies but also inflict continuous damage.
Smolder (Veteran)
Smolder distinguishes itself from the other swords in this collection by not propelling projectiles. However, its Charged Attacks possess the remarkable ability to engulf enemies in flames. This sword held the status of a unique reward in the initial Remnant game for vanquishing the Root Dragon, hand in hand with the Hellfire SMG.
Savior (Hardcore)
Renamed as the Fusion Rifle, the Savior has been reinvented as a Long Gun that unleashes piercing energy beams. Its ability to fire in quick succession has been substituted with the Shatterstar modification, turning every shot into a fiery assault against foes while ensuring that successful hits bounce off towards proximate targets. To acquire this formidable weapon, one must triumph over Remnant 2 on any difficulty with a Hardcore character.
Accessories (Hardcore)
If you successfully complete the game with a Hardcore character, you will gain access to the following accessories:
- Daredevil's Charm (Amulet): This accessory enhances the wearer's damage, speed, and vulnerability based on the number of unequipped armor pieces.
Provisioner Ring - Reloads weapons over time.
Dran Scavenger Ring - Heals and buffs the wearer's damage after picking up ammo, iron, or scrap.
Drzyr Sniper Sigil - Increases the effectiveness of firearms at long ranges.
Remnant 2 is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
