Sea of Stars, like other JRPGs and Japanese-inspired RPGs, includes popular mechanics such as fishing. Players won't have to wait long to try their hand at fishing in this game. The opportunity presents itself once the main characters, Zale and Valere, defeat the giant slug and finish their trials.
After leaving the Forbidden Cavern, players can simply head left to reach the fishing pond and start fishing right away, without the need to purchase or find a fishing rod. However, Sea of Stars expects players to figure out the mechanics on their own. Here is a breakdown of what gamers should know.
How To Fish In Sea Of Stars
To access Sunglow Lake, Zale and Valere must first complete the Forbidden Cavern and defeat the first boss of the Sea of Stars. Once they exit the cavern, they can go north to reach Sunglow Lake. At the lake, they should check the board for information on the available fish species and prepare to start fishing. The most challenging fish are usually found at the far end of the pond.
To cast the line, stand on the dock and press the Cast button. In the Fishing Minigame, aim the rod in any direction and drop the weight by pressing the Kick button. Use the left and right buttons on the L Stick to steer the rod. It's important to be cautious and avoid pulling the fish in the opposite direction too quickly. Instead, move the directional stick as slowly as possible.
To improve your chances of successfully catching a fish, make sure to center the fishing line when the fish takes the bait and reel it in gently. If the line flashes red, it is a sign that the fish is resisting, so avoid reeling and instead follow the fish's movement. Otherwise, if you continue reeling, the line will snap, and you'll lose the fish.
When the fish jumps out of the water, quickly press the kick button to stun it and then use the Reel action. It's important not to rush when using the reel, especially if you're using a controller. When the controller vibrates, loosen the pull to prevent damaging the line.
Once the fish is near the leading character, hold down the Reel button firmly to successfully catch the fish.
Players can now choose to either fillet the fish or release it. If the party is in need of food, it would be more advisable to fillet the fish. However, if they want to release the fish back into the pond, it has no impact on the story.
Sea of Stars is currently accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
